I’m just learning about this accident that happened at the intersection of Old Dominion & Williamsburg Blvd at 12:30am last night. The incident has me shook. We drive through this intersection multiple times a day. We have one teen driver. Another starting driver’s ed in January.
My heart goes out to the family of the victim, and also for the assailant and that family. So many lives forever changed at such a young age. Just incredibly sad. https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/local/virginia/arlington-police-charge-teen-dui-involuntary-manslaughter-following-fatal-crash/65-ce794331-ecb2-4e6a-8cd0-15faa4d4bafe |
Wow, how awful. |
This is so sad. |
Omg. Just saw this thread about parents serving alcohol to teens at parties.
I’m over people who do this, especially in this day and age! Completely reckless! It’s happening way too often and is out of hand. Any adult doing this deserves mandatory jail time. There is no excuse in this day and age. None. https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1093192.page |
How in the world can a teen in todays world not know to not drink and drive? |
They are teenagers on alcohol. That is the perfect storm for poor judgment. |
I wonder how fast the SUV was driving. The speed limit on Old Dominion is 30 or 35, I think. So, so sad. |
My DS told me about it tonight. Everyone involved were Seniors, as is my son - really shook me. I feel so bad for the family that lost their son - a Washington & Liberty student. I can’t imagine going from applying to college to burying a son. Horrible. https://wjla.com/amp/news/local/braylon-meade-death-killed-teen-charged-dui-deadly-crash-rock-spring-arlington-virginia-accident-washington-liberty-high-school |

The driver too? So incredibly sad. |
Yes, from another local high school. |
Thanks for sharing. Just remember: this isn’t about you. |
Whoever replied to this message in this way — go check yourself. This is about all of us as a community. Wake up. As the OP I’ve lost several very close friends in car accidents, including my next door neighbor during our senior of high school. A car full of high school Girlfriends, drunk on the highway, that flipped their car because the driver didn’t see a paving vehicle parked on the side of the highway. A college boyfriend, my best friend lost her right hand when her drunk boyfriend lost control of his vehicle and his car flew into an oak tree going 65 mph down a hill. I also posted this article as a wake up call to our community because I’ve witnessed far too many families in our area offering and/or being permissive w/alcohol and turning a blind eye to drugs with teenagers. No idea how the assailant became drunk, but I know first hand what has been happening inside many homes of late. If not this accident, then others are inevitable unless changes start happening. The carnage I saw in my youth and the lasting trauma from those events was and is real. Knowing that I have been driving through this intersection all day where this boy died brought back every childhood friend that I watched be buried or permanently maimed. I was very clear that the families involved have both my sympathy and empathy. |
Easy. They’re doing exactly what they watched their parents doing their whole lives. Please stop drinking and driving yourselves. Behave like you want your kid to behave. |
Dang. Where did you grow up? |
