UVA McIntire or top 15 school?

Anonymous
Dc is looking to go into business. We're in Va so he's looking at UVA which has McIntire (he knows he would have to apply into it after 2 years at UVA). We're wondering how graduating from McIntire compares to other top programs like Ross, Stern or ivy. And whether McIntire is better for students going into certain fields in business than other. Experience from anyone who has gone through McIntire and how they fared compared to other schools? Tips from those on how to compete (other than grades) with students from top 15 schools are appreciated!

Best to apply broadly and really focus on this AFTER getting acceptances. Why seriously debate the merits of a certain high rejection school when your DC could be shut out of it?

Maybe they are trying to decide on early decision. Not sure which business schools are binding.

Op, my cousin went to UVA undergrad McI and my impression at the time was that he got into the business school as a high school senior, so when he went he knew he was going to the business school. Is that not accurate? This was about a decade ago

Direct admission to McIntire?

McIntire is well regarded and if UVA is in state and money is a concern it would be a solid choice. The downside with McIntire is admission is highly competitive. Many who aspire to this don't make the cut As a PP suggested hard to make this decision without specifics. Best to get acceptances and look again.

That wasn't an option when I was there.

There is no direct admit to McIntire. You apply to arts & science and then transfer after 2 years. Different from Michigan Ross.

I was told that there's some sort of honor/scholar program which offer direct or guranteed admission to McIntire, if so it's a great deal especially for Instate

Is it hard to transfer into McIntire? I thought I saw some information put out by UVA that acceptance to McIntire was over 60% (for UVA students, not transfer students from other schools).
