Diarrhea after CAVA?

Anonymous
I hate to publicly name this restaurant, but I'm wondering if anyone else got terrible diarrhea (that lasted way, way longer than food poisoning) after eating at the CAVA on Bethesda Ave. Anyone?

When did this happen, OP?

I eat there semi-regularly and have never had that problem, but haven't been there much this summer.

Have you been to a dr?

Yes, more than once. I think it is because of the food sitting in those trays, just adding more to the top; an invitation for disaster as it sits. I always ask the server to change gloves at my order. The way they would grab lettuce etc with their hands was always unsettling.

Did it last for weeks? I think I picked up something more serous than food poisoning.

I am just getting over something from another restaurant that has lasted almost a month. I think there is something going around.

Started about 6 weeks ago. Just when I thought I had turned a corner, it came back -- right after eating at CAVA. Looking through my receipts, I realize we had eaten there right before it started 6 weeks ago, too. We always manage to go right before they close -- but again, this is more serous than food poisoning (that I know of).

Could be something else, but seems like it's CAVA.

Thanks for this. I guess it could happen at any restaurant if something is going around.

Hmm…that’s a long time to have something like this. I’d see a gastroenterologist

It was either a Caesar salad or delivery kabobs about a month ago and I have had to go on BRAT diet for past week. Had no other symptoms except daily diarrhea. Sorry for TMI!

Salads are notorious for food poisoning, especially Romaine lettuce.

Remember that food poisoning or food related illness is rarely what you think it is: the time lines aren't fast and aren't what people think they are -- could be your last meal, much more likely it was one of your last five meals.

Lettuce/raw ingredients are notorious for making people sick.
