Diarrhea after CAVA?

Anonymous
Interesting--I eat Cava regularly (Navy Yard location) and am fine, but Sweetgreen always gives me diarrhea, usually mid-meal. The Whole Foods salad bar was the same way, but I haven't eating that since pre-covid. Since it's two separate places I assume it's not a specific ingredient but it's something else.

I also eat at chopt weekly and have never had any stomach issues from it.

I guess it could be the store. But if also could be something entirely different.

Please tell us what you order at Chopt

I have now been sick 3 times from eating Cava over a year timeframe. I always order the Greek Salad with a side pita. It is short-lived but not worth eating there anymore. I can’t figure out why I am so affected by this dish.

So many people I know have this problem after eating Cava, including my husband. He now refuses to every eat it.

Started having it also and then I realized it was the eggplant in the dips. It was the only place that I was eating eggplant until I went to another restaurant and had eggplant. I was able to connect the dots. Nightshade allergies/sensitivities are very common in middle-age.

+1 Exact same for me.

Omg. I just had CAVA for the first time Thursday and have had IBS like symptoms since. Was suspecting food poisoning. Had no idea this was a thing. Had a salad with chicken.

Which dips?

Lemon vinaigrette and lemon tahini. Grilled and harissa honey chicken.

I’m wondering if the greens were funky.

I bet it’s the tahini.

Maybe. I eat tahini all the time at home though with no issues.

Some sort of food handling or old stock issue ?

My husband got food poisoning and we weren’t sure what made him sick but then I remembered this thread, and sure enough he had Cava yesterday.

My entire large family eats there often and no one ever has any issues.
Pp define “food poisoning”. Seems like you are just throwing that term out.
