I have a fatty liver and my doctor recommended this. I dislike vegetables but will do it.
Any words of wisdom? |
grill some eggplants, make a tomato salad, find the things that are inclusive in "mediterranean" that are both healthy and appeal to you. There's got to be something! |
Try preparing them different ways. Maybe roasted? Add feta? Or tahini? Fatty liver is also helped by drinking black coffee.
What do you not like about veggies? |
I recommend Ottolenghi's Plenty cookbook. Lots of tasty vegetable based recipes. |
I would rather eat protein. I drink black coffee already. |
thanks! |
Fish is protein and meditteranean. There you go. Eat fish. |
Lots of fish, pasta, fruit, cheese, prosciutto, espresso |
no no no no no very high fat, not what is meant by a Meditteranean diet. although yes, those things are eaten in places like Italy for sure. |
-Cut out red meat and processed meats (sausage, hot dogs, bacon, smoked meats).
-eat mostly fish and some chicken for meats, plus plenty of plant protein like whole grains (farro, bulgur, quinoa, oats), beans, lentils -figure out what vegetables you tolerate and eat a lot of them, plus fruits -add nuts and olive oil, avocado oil -easy on the cheese |
You dislike all vegetables? |
Veggies prepared the Mediterranean way are delicious. For example, coat veggies in olive oil, garlic powder, salt, pepper then roast in oven….delicious.

I think you need to cut back on carbs, deserts, chips, crackers, and red meat. Carbs and bad fats are the enemy. Opt for chicken, fish, and snacking on nuts, low fat yogurt, whole grains (triscuits), and fruit instead. Use olive oil for cookng, or avocado oil. |
We are Mediterranean, and we love ProFish. We order online and pick up at weekly drop location nearby. It's restaurant quality fish. Their mahi mahi, halibut, and swordfish are excellent. We grill the swordfish. |
Try grilled vegetables - cut zucchini into thick pieces, toss in olive oil, and put on the grill. Sautee frozen broccoli florets or green beans in olive oil. Boil fresh asparagus for 6 minutes. Bake fresh cut up cauliflower on a baking sheet after tossing in olive oil. |
