My DD who is 10 is selected for NCAP 10 and under . We gave try outs and she got selected. But we are planning to give try out to RMSC at Kennedy shriver next week . Apart from money will you select one over the other one NCAP Ava RMSC? Also does all RMSC locations offer the same level of coaching?Any suggestions please.

IME try outs is just about placement in the right group. Either way, choose the most convenient location and time for your family.

Thank you. Location might not be an issue. But just trying to hear opinions what’s the advantage of choosing NCAP over RMSC or vice versa ? Thanks

You have kids that do great in both groups and kids that don’t do well with both groups. RMSC has more options for those wanting it as a second sport with a lower commitment, and options for those that want to compete at a higher level. Which NCAP site are you looking at?

As you mentioned, money is going to be the biggest difference. I also think there are fewer kids in NCAP, so the lanes aren’t as crowded. I don’t have any experience with RMSC, so I can’t speak to their coaches personally, but when we were looking into clubs we had heard some less than positive things about coaches at KSAC. If you say location may not be an issue, I’m guessing you are talking about NCAP at Gtown Prep (since that’s pretty close to KSAC) and I have heard great things about their coaches from people with kids in the program. My DC is at a different NCAP site, and their friends at GP are happy there.

We picked RMSC once we learned of the Curl Burke scandal and they renamed it to NCAP

Thanks. NCAP GP how does it compare to NCAP north or Holton Arms?Bcz the coach said he would put him in 10 and under but not 10-11.I saw in Holton Arms it’s 9-12 is different. Does the coaching differ very much between these locations? Thanks

We have experience with both NCAP at GP and RMSC. If price is not a factor, I strongly recommend NCAP. Better coaching. Well organized. I’d take that spot now because it’s much harder to get in at older ages.

I do not know anything about Holton Arms, but all the NCAP sites are organized differently. From what you’ve described, your kid is 10 and this is his first club experience, so unless he is super fast and better than the average 10 year old, it makes sense that he would be put in the 10 and under group (which is referred to as Bronze 2). Bronze 1 is the fast 10 year olds (generally JO qualifier level, and 11 year olds.

At Holton it is 10 and under, then Bronze is 11/12. Sometimes younger kids move groups a little more quickly while slower swimmers might stay and extra year, so those are guidelines. NCap North is in VA so it may different

Coaching is different in that each coach has their own personality and focus, but NCap is known for their excellent coaching.

Sorry, didn’t realize you were talking about your DD, but the same logic applies. If she’s new to club swim, unless she is a standout, it’s completely normal that she would start with their 10 and under group.
