Swim Club recommendations?

Why not ASA ? ASA is small team but very competitive. They treat all swimmers like stars --

And the group placement policy is transparent, for example

Advanced Seniors Group

Group Requirements:
-must be in high school
- 90% of practices are required
-two Junior Champ qualifying times

My swimmer has 4 Juniors Champ qualifying times but was dumped into Seniors Group at KSAC.

Sounds like an advertisement.

It is based in part on age and times, but they really do consider what will be best from a developmental standpoint. There is stroke work, especially early in the year, and the sets get progressively more challenging. A number of people really love RMSC and a few friends I spoke to today are happy with their programs, including a few Advanced Juniors at KSAC. With that said, there are a few swimmers who moved from RMSC to NCAP and are really happy with the move. And generally, to the extent there is movement at NCAP Prep at the Bronze Age group, it does seem like more move from other programs, including RMSC, to NCAP than vice-versa.

Thanks. If my DC makes advanced Junior group at KSAC is it worth it to join than NCAP prep bronze. Money is also a factor . There is a big difference .

If money is a factor you’re going to want to go with RMSC, no other club will be able to compete with their pricing for MoCo residents. The other difference that I would be interested in is how many kids are in the training group. RMSC is larger than NCAP so the lanes can be crowded, which is not great.

You should also take consideration of reconstruction project of KSAC -- it will happen in two years -- then the location will be changed.

Any idea where they will move to then?

When the silver spring pool is done they will move there to remodel Ksac and then move back.

Prices have gone way with RMSC.

We have been KSAC/RMSC 6 plus years. DS also started at 10 and was assigned to Juniors after tryout. He was moved to Advanced Junior after one year. During the time in Juniors, Advanced Juniors Group head coach often came to give them much harder training set.

KSAC Advanced Juniors Group is really good, perhaps the best among the PVS. It is good because the coach really cares about the swimmers. He is able to motivate kids to work hard. The assistant coach is very strict but also very good. It was my son's best experience at KSAC.

If your kid joins the club just for fun/workout, then Juniors/Seniors are good enough -- but if your kid wants to join high school team to compete, you should look for a club/team that has better chance to join advanced group. KSAC is very competitive and it becomes a magnet that attracts other top swimmers from other RMSC sites to join.

Hello thanks. What do you mean by “ look for a club/ team that has better chance to join advanced group .

I mean this as nicely as possible, but unless your kid is a phenom you don’t need to worry about moving them from club to club to try and get into the most advanced group. If your kid gets accepted at both GP and KSAC there will be plenty of opportunity for advanced training if your kid proves to be really talented. But don’t put the pressure on your kid in their first year of club swim to be fast enough to get into an advanced training group. Take a deep breath and let your kid enjoy swimming, they don’t need mom freaking out about every little thing.

Thank you. I understand.I just want to do the best thing for him.I feel Ksac junior has to be ok.but I see a lot of bad reviews about junior coach at Ksac. But I do think that Advanced junior coach is really nice. But there is no guarantee every one will move to that level.GP NCAP good but kind of confused with money and the time.
