I'm looking to shake things up. I've been at a plateau. I'm still prone to overeating when there is a lot of food in front of me.
Any success stories with this? Thanks! |
There are studies about eating soup before a meal leading to weight loss. Seems like the same premise. |
Eat 1/3 to 1/2 of what you'd normally consume. Within a few days you will be used to it. Ideally you should consume 1200-1500 calories per day to lose weight steadily, which is 400-500 calories per meal x 3. |
At the risk of being annoying with unsolicited advice- I would eat what you think is a normal portion and then wait 15-20 minutes to see if you’re still hungry. It can take your body some time to register that you’re full. I would do that rather than try and trick your body or override any normal hunger cues by gorging on water.
I think Americans are very out of tune with normal hunger cues and eating patterns. So much snack culture, diet culture, eating on the run culture. Ok- getting off by soapbox now. |
I tried that it made my GERD so much worse. Doctor says it washes away digestive juice you need to digest food and not to drink anything during eating or right before. |
Stupid advice if you don't know anything about the person you're giving advice to. For me, this would be anorexia. |
I was going to post the exact same thing, you need digestive juices for healthy digestion. |
Start with a cup of bone broth 30 minutes before your meal |
Fee fi fo fum. |
Not a good idea. Will wash away what your stomach needs to digest the food and stretch out your stomach long term. |
Not to beat a dead horse- but look into intermittent fasting. I think it’s what you’re missing. I only eat between 2-6:30pm. I eat a filling, healthy meal and lose weight. It’s not a big struggle because there are set hours. I just know at noon I can wait 2 more hours (morning is the easiest for me, at night i take a shower or brush my teeth) |
24 ounces??? Sounds like a recipe for a stomach ache. |
+1 IF with a 4 hour window eliminates all of my cravings. |
Are you obese? You do realize most Americans eat at least 3 x the required amount of food, right? I have lost 15 lbs in the past 2 months sticking to a 1200-1500 daily calorie diet and cutting out fats and sugars, complex carbs. I feel fantastic and am visibly smaller. It will take longer if you are huge, but it's worth it. |
You start with an ad hominem right out the gate and then go to a strawman argument. First, I am not obese, and I'm pretty sure my daily exercise exceeds what most folks do in two weeks. Second, the claim that most Americans eat 3x the required amount of food is immaterial as to whether your blanket prescription that people should just eat 1200 to 1500 calories a day is dangerous. Caloric intake needs to be appropriate for the size and activity level of the individual. For many people, and active people in particular, 1200 to 1500 calories a day would absolutely be anorexic. |
