Eat 1/3 to 1/2 of what you'd normally consume. Within a few days you will be used to it. Ideally you should consume 1200-1500 calories per day to lose weight steadily, which is 400-500 calories per meal x 3.
Stupid advice if you don't know anything about the person you're giving advice to. For me, this would be anorexia.
Are you obese? You do realize most Americans eat at least 3 x the required amount of food, right? I have lost 15 lbs in the past 2 months sticking to a 1200-1500 daily calorie diet and cutting out fats and sugars, complex carbs. I feel fantastic and am visibly smaller. It will take longer if you are huge, but it's worth it.
You start with an ad hominem right out the gate and then go to a strawman argument. First, I am not obese, and I'm pretty sure my daily exercise exceeds what most folks do in two weeks. Second, the claim that most Americans eat 3x the required amount of food is immaterial as to whether your blanket prescription that people should just eat 1200 to 1500 calories a day is dangerous. Caloric intake needs to be appropriate for the size and activity level of the individual. For many people, and active people in particular, 1200 to 1500 calories a day would absolutely be anorexic.
