Feedback on VLC Club Lacrosse?

If it’s a NESCAC v. 3/4s of the Div I programs? Um, yes. Wagner or Williams? VMI or Amherst? Robert Morris v. Middlebury? Sacred Heart or Wesleyan? Not even close.

Lacrosse is a means to an end, not an end.

I guess there’s nothing but Hicks out there in Loudoun. SMH

Speaking of VLC, Nick Rowlett, class of 2020, was just named first team All Big Ten.

Hell yeah.

Ever heard of Amherst, Williams, Swarthmore, Vassar, Bowdoin, Hamilton and I could reel off 20 others? If not, you'll never get it. If so, you understand.

To be fair I don't think the prior post referenced hicks. Just not very smart kids comparatively speaking.

Not to mention - "all that club money" in the case of VLC is really not much at all. I don't have a high income by DCUM standards (can't afford private schools) but I consider VLC fees easily affordable even when you add travel expenses for summer tournaments to them.

If VLC creates a meaningful advantage for admission to a good D3 school, of which there are many, then VLC fees will be well worth it.

Spoken like a true elitist ignorant snob. You may want to check school system rankings and the reported income disparity between Loudoun and FFX. I guess all those “rich, smart hicks” in Loudoun have them some dumb kids.....

Anyone who thinks that top D3 schools like the "Little Ivies" (NESCAC) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Ivies are not worth paying for club lacrosse to help your child get in must have a kid who is easily going to get into. With the exception of two theses are all highly selective schools and admission is tough without something to add to the community. GPA/SAT/ACT scores won't do it alone as they turn away top scoring kids all the time. Colleges want a mix so its not the top 15% of students who get into a 15% acceptance rate school. They want diversity (not just gender or race) in fields of study, interests, hobbies and activities. Lacrosse and other athletics are a great way to put your already stellar kid over the top. What it WON'T do is get your kid that doesn't meet the schools standards into the school. Coaches would be doing themselves a disservice as well as the kid by putting them in an academic environment they can't handle. D1 is totally different, but D3 wants a STUDENT/ATHLETE but student first.

For reference here are some acceptance rates in the NESCAC I could find quickly:
Amherst - 11%
Bates - 12%
Bowdoin - 9%
Colby - 9.7%
Connecticut College - 34%
Hamilton - 16%
Middlebury - 15%
Trinity - 33%
Tufts - 15%
Wesleyan - 16%
Williams - 13%

Yes but in my opinion lax isn't really special or interesting enough to give your child an edge. It does check the "athletics" box and possibly "leadership" as well if they're team captains. But a large number of these applicants are from DC/MD/NY/NJ UMC public and private/boarding schools, and that's the same population that plays lacrosse. Something like kayaking or ice climbing would be a sport that would make an applicant actually stand out. And they'd need to be nationally ranked. So I wouldn't play club lacrosse fees and spend that much time on lax unless your kid loves it and would do it regardless of college admissions.

Come play for VLC, you'll go D3 and get a great education. Nothing wrong with that all.

If you want to go D1 maybe look elsewhere.

Isn’t Charlie playing for Duke as a freshman?
Roman starts for MD.
List goes on and on.
