DA vs ECNL vs everything else

I'm starting to think there is a bipolar poster who is answering his own post with a post.

No, but we certainly have someone who might be a little overly concerned with the state of youth soccer if they are referring to the days "pre 2009" as the golden age. I mean that was ten years ago now and in all likelihood their kids who played then are now possibly married and starting a family of their own, but here he/she is hanging out in a youth kids soccer forum.

I get the whole pre-2009 (before ECNL) argument. But it's 2018 and none of us are changing the system.

It is what it is. Reminiscing like Al Bundy at the shoe store isn't going to change it.

There is no going away from the #money grab. Parents now pay 7-10K a year willingly and the clubs love it, even if it is only the top few at each "elite" club that are on the radars. I think the PP is a little wacko sock puppet. I am glad that these parents do that because it basically subsidizes play time for the top half, but that is selfish.

Roster fillers and role players vs starters and impact? players. Do the math.

Imagine if one DA had all the latter and went to the Oceanside showcase ......

Anyone can go on the USSDA Facebook page and watch this weekend's showcase games.

Many are professionally narrated and are a pleasure to watch. Make the decesion yourself. Just got done watch U15 (8th and 9th graders) Penn Fusion vs Dallas. Quality football for their age. Multiple NT call up players.

Hard pressed to find this quality anywhere outside the DA for u15 and below.

WHAT ARE VDA PLAYERS DOING NEXT YEAR?

Staying put for ECNL or moving to DA

Watched a few games. Agree that there were some very good players. But strip away the fancy uniforms, slick videos, the narration (care was obviously taken to not be critical of kids on a public video. Understandable and appreciated - but not mentioning the many mistakes does not mean they did not exist.) and it was a well done youth soccer tournament with some stand out players and then the rest of the roster. Yes quality but just wished it was higher quality. Nice league if you can afford it I would say, very similar to the ECNL.

Could add that there was one team that made me envious of their play. But they were from a club half way across the county and we all have to choose the best fit from our local options.

You mean 14-15 year old kids made mistakes in a soccer game? Well, blow it up, GDA is doomed!!

Not sure what teams you have seen but I did not find the play extraordinary although Shaw from FC Dallas is a talent. To be honest, the style is more organized and smother but I don't think the quality of players is much different from top players on the top teams of the same age in the DMV. Arlington, Mclean, Fredrick and Annapolis. I am not sure watching those games convinced me that the USWNT is going to rely soley on UDA to build a World Cup champion team. If so, why operate a seperate league. It is just insane.

Of course they make mistakes. Pros make mistakes. Just lamenting the situation that none of us can do anything about. If you have a strong, interested player (which I am guessing includes all the parents that would bother with a soccer forum) what do you do?

I personally dislike the entire uber-monetized youth sports machine we have all created but that said - we have to choose a team. For what it costs us all in time and money, wish there was an obvious winner so the motivated players could be together and learn to more successfully execute higher level play. Oh well, life goes on.

The last two years I have toyed with the idea of forming a team outside the club system with a group of motivated and committed players I know who share my and DS' frustrations with the current system. I know the coach I'd hire too. I feel that this would really benefit players in the range of U10-14 and wish I had the guts to pull the trigger on it.
