DA vs ECNL vs everything else

No, NOVA has a tenth the population with actually worse traffic. That is a fact, not a contradiction. Are parents willing to commute for elite soccer? Yes, but as I posted above, not at 12 years old. When DA and ECNL start in this region at U13 the actual logistics are an issue. All that means is our regional logistics creates some specific problems with condensing a player pool on a scale that would deliver "SoCal quality."

If SoCal went from 13 DA's to 6 do you honestly believe it would make a difference in the overall quality of those 6 clubs? Or would they simply miss out on 600 other quality players?

If you read the thread on the Arlington DA ID sessions it was clear that for at least the mentioned age group of the 30 kids there ONLY 5-6 were from outside of Arlington. Which pretty much confirmed things I said regarding the overall draw to Arlington when it was mentioned that they would have DA. For young ages it is a cluster eff to get there if you are not already in the area.

Arlington DA will practice by the 14th Street Bridge. No one is commuting there four times a week for 5 pm practice. I get that.

They do. Its the DA SW division.

As the PP said, they do this already and it is called SW DA.

So even if you trimmed the SoCal division down to 6 teams all that would happen is you miss out on up to 500 really good players simply because they logistically can't get to practice. Even carpools become less of an option when kids are so dispersed geographically. Those kids will simply play in another regional or local league.

I disagree if its your belief that there are more than 100 above average to elite national level kids per age group in Northern VA?

You folks are clearly drinking the DA cool-aid. The point is that you have strong teams and strong players dispersed between ECNL, DA and other independent clubs. If you take the top tier from each group you could have 10-15 strong teams that play each other twice a year.

No you cant. You clearly are drinking Kool-Aid from an unknown source. Lead based perhaps.

Yes, yes, ECNL too. It isn’t so much about the Kool-Aid as it is just easier to speak about it in general. But can we agree that with the way ECNL is expanding they are no longer trying to be the top league and are content with being 1A?

There are more than a 100 kids in NOVA in any given year who can play college soccer. And that is the typical endgame here. You seem to think people care about being on a “super team” when all they want is their kid to be in a platform for their kids to be seen. Being good enough to get meaningful minutes in DA or ECNL is, quite frankly, elite enough for most kids.

Ok. Thank you for your insight. Bickering back and forth is pointless. You do what you think is best for your family.

NP. The traffic in SOCAL is horrendous. We do not have a traffic problem. Players already commute between McLean and Leesburg without issue.

I'll tell you mine. I've seen them 1st hand. Both here and in California. I know scores from when local teams played Socal teams. I know where the most scouted region in womens soccer is located. I know the region where most NT players come from. I know the area where experts will tell you from their experience is the best.

So tell us..., who are you? What club are you affiliated with? Guarentee i can find a Socal team that crushed them

I didn't claim to have knowledge of SoCal, you did. I am asking you what your experience is and how you have come to your conclusions. Your premise is that we are diluted in NOVA.

NOVA has a population of 1.5 million compared to LA County's 10 Million and yet, with a tenth of the population we average the longest commute times in the nation. (https://www.moneycrashers.com/worst-us-cities-traffic-commute-time/)

We neither have the player population nor the logistical capacity to condense our player pool to much more than it already is dcurrently. Again, California is a completely different place with its own issues than ours. There is very little that is done in SoCal that correlates to here so it isn't worth the time comparing the two regions.

You don't get it. We are a pilot market where DA and ECNL are battling it out. You fool. This is totally diluted and not normal. We don't need or serve all these options and only have them because of the eliteness war. The bottom half bench warmers on these "elite" rosters are so very average.

And again, nobody cares. All they want is for their kid to be in a platform where they can be seen.

Just repeat the following to yourself:
All players want is a platform to be seen.
All players want is a platform to be seen.
All players want is a platform to be seen.
All players want is a platform to be seen.
All players want is a platform to be seen.
All players want is a platform to be seen.

And thanks to ecnl and da, you can now just write a check and find an elite bench to warm as there is an option for every girl and her sister, unlike pre-2009 when you couldn't just write a check. Yes, you nailed it for us. Thanks.
