| Expect more delays at the airports. Air traffic controllers have an uptick in sick calls. They are being asked to work without pay, and some are saying I don’t think so, that’s what sick leave is for. https://apple.news/AkwTPiIY5TO2f-S2bo2H2wA |
Corporations only worry about shareholder value and with Rs and Trump in charge, they know they can play whatever games to juice stock price. Corps pass tariffs costs to consumers. Ag knows that Trump will bail them out so who cares about farm workers. Tech is moving to AI so who cares about h1bs. I guess you concede that Rs look out for wealthy people. |
I’m a Dem but oh. I did not realize what Ds were arguing about was a subsidy bump up that was intended to be temporary during the pandemic. Not loving that. But kudos to them re: messaging - I had no idea this was the hill they were dying on. |
A fight is a fight. They chose healthcare because that’s the issue the entire caucus is comfortable with and can get behind. Let’s celebrate them building their opposition muscles. This will not be the last fight. The fact that two Democrats have defected shows how much work still needs to be done with this party. |
Right! Screw the poor people and their rising healthcare costs. |
They have picked a stupid hill to die on. Why is their only solution to things to always throw more money at it? Every single thing that is subsidized by the government gets more expensive. When it becomes unaffordable to average working people, then the Dem solution is to subsidize it more, causing it to get even more expensive and less affordable to even those making a good income. It is the same with housing, higher education, even groceries. Why do Dems no understand this? We cannot just keep printing money out of thin air. Sure, we can tax rich people, but will eventually run out of that as well. The only solution to getting any of these under control is to move to a more consumer driven model. We need to off-ramp the employer-centric model and cap what can be received in pre-tax benefits. There can and should be an underlying safety net for those who are truly disabled and cannot work, but everyone else needs to work and contribute. There will be pain but unfortunately there will need to be some in order for the insurance companies to be held accountable. The ACA has done little else except for massively pad the pockets of insurance companies. |
Ftr, Dems are not fighting for a "temporary" bump but for an expansion of the ACA that was enacted during the pandemic, an expansion that should have happened earlier but had been blocked. The justification was the pandemic but the need had already been there. When the ACA was enacted, it was supposed to be modified to work as intended and instead has been modified to work less well. The expansion fixed some of this. Dems and Reps know this, they just haven't figured out the messaging yet. |
The majority of Americans have employer based health insurance. But the foundation, the bedrock of our health care system, is not employment based health insurance. It's Medicare. Federal funding is the most important funding for our health care system. You cannot take it out. It underlies everything. |
This is a n easy question. The GOP bill cuts taxes for billionaire and corporations while the majority of Americans are struggling to make ends meet. Why is it the GOP is making the rich richer and the super rich, filthy? |
I support Medicare and Medicaid but we need a deep and hard look at why our countries spends so much per capita on healthcare and part of the solution is more consumer driven factors. This ACA subsidy bump does not facilitate that and does the opposite. |
It was temporary for covid when people had lost all their jobs and we're not able to work. Should we continue other pandemic policies indefinitely? What about WW2 subsidies? |
How about infinite stimulus checks , Everytime their is a depression keep sending them regardless !! Lol Dems are so funny |
No, it was an expansion designed to fill in the gap. Covid was just the excuse they used to enact it. |
Look. This argument is just stupid and shows how out of touch you are. Nobody cares about USAID and sending money to foreign countries, however noble it might be, when Americans are losing their healthcare, jobs and foreclosures are up. And most Americans don’t want ICE off the streets, including most Democrats, we want ICE to stop their current brutal policies and go after the criminal immigrants as promised, not the random undocumented law abiding immigrants who have been here for decades. |
