I am a black woman. I don't really care for it. Hopefully someone speaks to him about messaging. I wouldn't mind him or Kelly being the VP pick |
I'm with Kelly or Walz. I'm just praying they don't do something stupid that kills the momentum. |
+1 both have wonderful spouses, who would be assets to the campaign as well. More on Gwen Walz: https://mn.gov/governor/about-gov/gwenwalz/ |
I prefer Walz because he’s savvy and a better speaker but I like Kelly a lot too. |
This would be a terrible choice. He has zero international politics experience. At this point, we need an experience hand. There are multiple international crises that we need to be on top of from Ukraine to Gaza to Taiwan to the Koreas, Iran, and South America. Pete has a good handle on domestic issues, but the closest he comes to international experience is being the Oxford International Review editor and being deployed to Afghanistan. While I respect the man, his experience and knowledge is predominantly domestic US and he has very little experience outside of book learning on international politics. He wants SecState to firm up his credentials for a future rerun for the Presidency. But he does not have the credentials to be SecState. Even others, like Clinton, who wanted SecState for the same reason had a lot better credentials at the time to be selected for the office than. During her time as first lady, she was one of the ambassadors from the US. She visited over 70 foreign nations as first lady and although she wasn't an official representative of the US, she firmed up relationships with many world leaders. She also worked in international policy during her time in the Senate. By the time she was appointed as SecState, she had been traveling internationally for over a decade with official US delegations in both an unofficial and official role representing the US. She had a lot of international clout. Buttigiet doesn't come close to the level of experience or knowledge of US international relations for the post. |
I'm okay with either one. But I think Walz might have a slight edge. They both have great resumes and appeal to the same target demographic. I just think Walz has a slight relatability edge he's the guy you want to grab a beer with. |
He’s running for Senate in 2026. |
Their daughter is a delight in her dad's twitter videos, too. |
So, you would rather she picks someone who looks great superficially, get invested in this person and have the media dig up a big issue on the candidate in 3-10 days that could sink the candidate or the Harris campaign? Vetting is there specifically to make sure that the skeletons in the closet are found before any announcement. This is what is happening with Vance, Trump rushed to announce Vance and the campaign did not sufficiently vet him and now he's an albatross for Trump. Harris has been the candidate for a little over a week and she's been making steady headway and has momentum. It's not good to be impatient and possibly curb that momentum. In politics, especially these last few months, the momentum can decide the winner. She's on a fast track schedule and will have a candidate before they have to submit to Ohio next week. That's the major deadline. But it is likely that they will try to get the name out this week. But gotta make sure that the candidate really is as good as they look. |
