+1 this exactly. Teachers leaving under a new principal is nothing new under the sun. 7 staff members really is nothing in the grand scheme of things. Some may not even be classroom teachers.

+1 but the behavior and comments in this thread wow-it's not good for Navy.

Navy will be totally fine. It’s important to have difficult conversations. It’s because ppl care about the school that they speak passionately about the community. No single person represents everyone’s viewpoint and it was important for ppl to be heard.

+1 I completely agree.

1. How did an email spiral into teacher bashing?! That’s disgusting and unnecessary. On the flip side, I’m going to get every teacher a shirt that says “I’m just here for the Starbucks and muffins”. Thanks for the idea.
2. I highly encourage you to walk a mile in the teachers’ shoes and go sub for a week before you pass judgement.
3. Shame on you for calling out a teacher by name. Why not share your name too?
4. The email was from another parent NOT a teacher.
5. When you resort to name calling, you’ve already lost the argument and you sound ignorant.
6. You can like the principal and he can be a great guy, but that doesn’t make him good at his job.
7. We are NOT a title 1 school nor a middle school nor a high school.
8. How does me forwarding an email make me unsuitable to teach kids? I’m not there to spy. The hours align with my kids and I enjoy it. At the end of the day, I’m a parent at Navy and I’m going to do what is in the best interest of my kids.

** Teachers, I’m genuinely sorry for the backlash this has caused.**

Yes, #5 is so true. See the first line of your own response where you did exactly just that. LOL. Next. You’re certainly not very bright are you? We definitely don’t want you subbing at Navy anymore.

It's not your decision whether or not she subs. My kid had her as a sub before and liked her. Are you going to go in and sub instead? There is a sub shortage.

Where did I say it was my decision if she subs? I expressed an opinion.

It doesn’t matter if the kids like her. What matters is her ethics/morals and ability to be a professional. It’s clear that is lacking.

This is such a fake post! No kid goes home to rave about how awesome a sub was. Probably written by the sub.

Seriously? She subbed in my kid's class for a period of time. Are you that dense that you wouldn't ask your kid who the sub was on a given day? I am not "the sub." What she did was wrong to send out that email, however it is only up to the principal to not allow her back. Given that everyone is dying to come sub and make a measly $20 an hour, I'm sure he will have so many candidates to pick from.

Parent: "Hi Johnny how was your day at school?"

Johnny: "You'll never believe it mom! I had the most amazing substitute teacher ever! She's not an idiot at all. I sure hope she never gets fired."

Same as a parent. I don't want want to be know by admin as someone who tried to de-throne you and now you'll potentially take it out on my child.

Good thing the teachers have a union that provides a ton of resources for this type of thing.

LOL! That’s what I was thinking too!

My child hasn’t seen her at school recently. I wonder if she spoke to the principal yet. She needs to let him know that she’s now a rep for the teachers and speaks on their behalf.

I think a staff meeting is more important than a parent meeting. Parents (like whoever drafted that email) do not represent the entire staff. Not one of those issues in the email was actually a staff concern.

I wish we could actually find out what the real concerns are. The email said the teachers perceive his management style as exacerbating their issues. We still have yet to hear what they are.

The email also said “we urge all families to take the principal evaluation survey…it is crucial we express our dissatisfaction with the current leadership.”

Why did the sub think it was appropriate to forward this email on to entire classes???

Also who gave the sub everyone’s email address? Did she use fcps resources to get this email distribution? Parents gave their email addresses to fcps with the trust that our emails were to be used only for school purposes. This is clearly a violation of trust and perhaps even more.

You are 100% correct. It’s my understanding she did indeed use FCPS resources to get access to the parent emails. It is completely inappropriate for an FCPS employee to circulate propaganda against the principal like this.

She is encouraging people to express dissatisfaction with the current leadership - assuming everyone is dissatisfied. She’s making the parents think this feeling of dissatisfaction is unanimous and we must do something about it - almost inciting some kind of panic/uprising. Also did she verify any of the unsubstantiated safety concerns she passed along as truth? This woman must not be allowed to sub at Navy as she has severely broken trust.
