Buckle-up.

I agree with the first part of your sentence, but not the second.

1. I do not think Trump will ever see the inside of a jail cell. The Archives and the DOJ have *already* bent over backwards to afford special privileges to this person, on account that he's a former President. Even if he's not President in 2024 and the jury is not hung, they will not dare send him to jail. Much will be made of his political stature, his age, his health, etc, and somehow he'll wiggle out of it.

2. But I don't believe there will be a civil war or any protest resembling Jan 6 - word on right-wing networks is that the government is out to get them, and since the Proud Boys and Oath Breakers have been guillotined, and people have been found guilty of Sedition, they're all pretty terrified of retribution right now. What could happen is lone wolf acts of terrorism on FBI offices or courts, which is why Willis has asked staff to work from home in August.

So... it will be more boring than we think. Which might be a good thing, long-term?

I think that he will be convicted because I believe the trial will bring out treasonous behavior on his part and even MAGA morons can understand this. Trump makes money from everything he can and he surely sold some of the information in the classified documents Also, he didn't just shoot himself in the foot at his diatribe on Tuesday evening, he gave himself a mortal wound. He essentially admitted that he knew all the documents were classified. I hope he keeps on ranting. (His newest enemies are the "mutants", whoever they are!)

Trump will skip the country before trial goes to a verdict. He is a coward snivelling.

I think you’re right about the money and there’s another investigation underway into what happened to the documents that went to Bedminster. This interview hasn’t gotten enough attention.

I don’t think he’ll skip the country, though (although he certainly could if they keep not attaching any conditions on his release.)

The Florida indictment deliberately left out what happened to the documents when they went to Bedminster. And we know that Trump wasn't charged for mishandling all the Top Secret documents he took.

DOJ held back the Bedminster stuff so they could also charge Trump in New Jersey (especially for the conversation with Mark Meadows' book researchers), in case the Florida charges get tied up by Judge Cannon.

Yes, Trump’s disclosure of the document contents on the recorded conversation happened at Bedminster. What happens in New Jersey is prosecuted in New Jersey. Trump will be facing charges in multiple states and DC.

Any bets on when Trump will try to flee to Russia?

I don’t think he will. That takes guts and bravado and he’s lost that. He really is a cheese brain at this point.

More’s the pity though. I would guess that even if he’s convicted his incarceration won’t look like it would for anyone else, you know, because of respect for the office (as if Trump showed the office any respect at all). If he fled to Russia, I’d love that for him, and would love it even more if it inspired the rest of his treasonous friends and followers to follow him there. If they want a dictator so badly, they should go live in a country with one.

Good point, more wishful thinking on my part that they would all go to Russia and leave us alone.

Side note: guess what happened after the indictment?

Versailles--perfect!

I'd been thinking that we'd have to build a separate prison just for him. But it just dawned on me, the perfect punishment--house arrest for 40 years (just to make sure) at Mar-a-Lago. Except it won't be a club. Nobody can visit him there. Nobody can applaud or toast or have their picture taken with him or play gold with him. All. By. Himself. And no TV.

I can't believe a judge is going to allow them to hold two separate trials without rolling them up.

I can't find the source, but I read they never found that attack plan document from Bedminster. That might be why there is no specific charge for the event. And the same could be true of the map. They may not be able to prove Trump ever had the documents. However his statement about what he is/isn't allowed to declassify is still useful when trying to prove his intent.
