Any other CVille tourney scores from today? Did games get in before the storms? Reviews of bbq platter?

CVille beat Flint Hill pretty good, Robinson did the same. Battlefield beat CVille by 4. It was a good, tight game most of the way. Both teams looked good. CVille lost one of their middies to injury, hopefully she is OK. I don't think they finished the game after that.

BBQ platter was solid, chicken was good, sausage was great, and it was like a pound of sides.

Between the power going out and then how quickly the weather turned I thought they did a bang up job. Agreed with the other post, hope they do it again next year and with a bigger field of teams.

Robinson beat Meridian. Never got to the Flint Hill game I believe. Noticed Robinson was missing their regular draw taker. Don’t know if she was out for injury, illness, suspension (I hear they’ve had some inappropriate posts by players on their team insta-stories in recent weeks) or what. But they still looked solid nonetheless.

And any time you are serving corn on the cob at a lax game = winner to the bbq platter.

Cville vs. Battlefield game didn't live up to the hype. Meridian, along with some Class 4 and 5 teams could beat both teams. Wake me up when Battlefield wins anything. Looks like the 6 title will run through Oakton or Madison.

If there’s any private school lax program that has fallen off a cliff, it’s Flint Hill. They’ve never been in the upper echelons with BI, SSSA, Visitation etc., but could usually prevail over public schools, but not for the past couple years.

Yes, let’s compare your solid logic here

Meridian lost by at least 11 points to Robinson where Robinson’s beat middie was hurt

Battlefield List to Robinson when they had their mid by one point in a back and forth game

Your logic is sound

The Cville tournament was fun and well run too bad the weather decided to ruin the party.

Third on the BBQ platter (I did the pork and all it needed was a beer but just wishful thinking here lol). They had other options to eat as well and the Anita’s breakfast burrito totally worked. The girls helping at the event were nice, parents in the snack stand were great and for what I’ve heard about the Cville parents being kind of jerks, we found the opposite (they were awesome) and there was actual parking that you didn’t have to jockey around to get a spot.

Most of the visiting parents were also cool. Yeah, a few were a bit loudmouthed but that seemed to stop early.

All around a totally chill tournament that only got ruined by the weather (and maybe the lack of space for the girls to warm up but again, they can only do so much).

And yes!!!! Run this again next year, bring in more teams and try and use the other field that youth soccer was on.

As for the actual games, well, I’ll keep my opinion to myself. 🙂

Finally, the announcer (while they had power): yeah, the bbq was available and we get the snack stand is open but he’s good. By far the best in this area with HS sports. Yeah, a bit of home bias but he honestly tried to make the away teams feel welcome and get their names right and be professional. He deserves a shout out as do the people on the sidelines and the athletic trainers.

Cville really put on a nice event! Just fix the portojohns issue for next year and expand it. We’ll come back if they do!

Define “toxic” program. Usually that word gets thrown around when a program is competitive and successful with players who CHOOSE to be part. You must be a parent who’s daughter isn’t at the top caliber to compete, sorry. Varsity isn’t for everyone. Congrats to Oakton beating SSSA! Don’t take away the big win saying “SSSA isn’t nationally ranked bla bla bla”. They have some incredibly talented players on that team too. Don’t take away hard work and sacrifices from players to make you feel better about your insecure self.

I do not have a player in 6A-D, so don’t have a position in the banter that goes on among posters on this board. I really enjoyed the tournament up until the weather came in. I agree with others the people and food were good. It’s too bad the girls didn’t get to finish the day.

As for the teams, IMO Robinson looked like the best team out there. They played fast and executed a good offense. I was really impressed by their circle play, more specially #19. If they were missing one of their better players as noted they will be a strong contender for states. Centerville seemed like the best coached team. The individual talent up and down their lineup was not as strong as some of the other teams, but their coach got everything out of her team. I’ve read where the Battlefield posters have propped their team up on this board but their play seemed average yesterday. Maybe they had an off day or were missing a key player like Robinson.

As for the games, the Centerville vs Battlefield game was the game of the day. I’m not familiar with either team but enjoyed watching the effort on both sides. Centerville is probably not as talented individually from top to bottom but they executed much better as a team. That’s good coaching. Up until one of their better players was knocked out of the game their teamwork seemed to have the upper hand. Oddly, Battlefield had 3 yellow cards. The play where the Centerville player left the game was not one of them. Battlefield probably should have been issued 4-5 yellows. Hate to see the outcome of a game impacted by a player getting injured. I liked the play of #23 for Battlefield. During the time I watched she was their strongest player with a nice shot. I’d say Battlefield wins this match up most times, but yesterday games was much closer than the final score. With everyone healthy that game could have gone either way.

Best of luck to all the 6A-D teams or however they are classified. It will be entertaining watching this all unfold leading up to the state championship.

I will only say 1 thing about Battlefield. They just finished their run against Fairfax teams going 4-1 and probably could have gone to 5-1 if game against Langley wasn’t postponed. Only loss was a 1 point game to Robinson who I think has best draw person in NOVA and she was the main reason Robinson won.

Some days this team is off, but when they are on they can beat any team in Fairfax.

Very true. Would love to see this team up against Madison or Oakton. Which can be expected in the state final. The difference between Battlefield and Centreville was Battlefield has an entire lineup of talented players. There were multiple scorers and threats on the circle. They adjust well to these Fairfax teams who have played in competitive games for years.. where as Battlefield doesn’t have that luxury in their given conference..

I would say a 2-1 run. Wouldn’t celebrate a close call against woodson, a win against a semi depleted centreville team, and a Robinson team who was handled by Madison. If that’s your basis for winning the states you need to go back to the drawing board.
