Changed jobs twice in past 12 months...both wanted drug tests

These are six-figure white-collar, remote jobs in both cases. Pre-pandemic I never once had to take a drug test. Is it really that bad out there?

Different companies have different policies.

I have 2 young adults and both had to have drug tests for employment. It appears to be a one time thing.

I am a political appointee and was drug tested.

I assumed drug testing was standard. I would be surprised if they didn't ask for one.

Nope. Never done drugs in my life. I’m just wondering if the desperation among recruiters has something to do with the 1 million Covid deaths, a wave of retirements and too much of the population hooked on drugs.

I’m a cpa and had to do a drug test. The nurse stayed in the room While I peed.

Just started at a tech company HQd in California and there is no drug testing for any level.

I won’t accept a job if drug testing is required. It’s a gross invasion of privacy.

I’ve had testing at jobs. I’ve also worked in hospitals where they checked blood titers in preemployment physical for hepatitis etc.

I think big companies in health and pharma tend to test.

It's also a legal requirement in the financial and insurance industries if you work for a regulated company (bank, broker-dealer, etc). Also required for any companies where you are operating vehicles or machinery.
