Really? The best team PVI has had in recent years was 2023 and just about any player with playing time was based in Loudoun and many west of the campus. Same with 2022 and many of this year's roster. The new location will only help. It was coaching changes that set them back a bit but they will only go up now.

Not according to the public school thread. The overwhelming sentiment is the education is not any better than public school and neither is the lax so why should they pay for it. If the campus change was good for lax, why no Jv a couple years in?

PVI parents in Loudoun like the catholic education. If they went to PVI before they will even more now and are getting the better Loudoun players. As far as lacrosse they totally dominated the top public schools in VEL. They did not have a JV because they did not have a JV coach. They do now. The move helped lacrosse more than it hurt.

The situation is no different than in MD or any other VA/DC private. Enough with the education nonsense first of all, no boys lacrosse players are going to a school for a much better education in the DMV. VA and DC DMV public schools are good, it's not like a lot of Baltimore area.

PVI has had some coach turnover and parent discontent, it'll ride on getting that squared away. They had JV players, even a roster, they just couldn't field a coach last year, so you can read between the lines.

There are plenty of families in VA that can be sold the D1 dream within driving distance to PVI. Just read these threads.

So, you're agreeing. The public education is just as good as the private so PVI loses that % of players. The athletic department can't find a coach but somehow a parent is going to send their lacrosse playing kid to PVI. But, magically, PVI will be relevant after 2026 because there are a ton of lacrosse playing families in Loudoun, just not those willing to pay for an education and those who are willing to skip lacrosse in high school for a year or two.

The campus change hurts the athletic department. There aren't as many families choosing to go to PVI because of the cost and distance and they can't find enough teachers or 3rd party coaches with the experience to keep them at past levels.

What's the PVI prediction for 2025: Finals of WCAC; Semi's; outside the top 4 in WCAC?

What do you think we're agreeing on? My contention is outside of DC residents, there's not a lot of going private for education lacrosse folks around. That's for all privates so they're on equal footing.

The rest of your conclusions are your own.

On coaches, my understanding is it was a late change and without the longer onramp -- one reason why they got caught short on coaches. They used to have 6-9 running around, and most have moved on on different timelines. I would suspect that will change this year and they'll have more than a skeleton staff. A one year deal.

On location, PVI Fairfax wasn't easy to get to unless you were nearby. And it was pretty old. It's possible they may be pricing themselves out of some families as tuition has jumped 125-150% in the last 8-9 years. Is that a result of the new campus? Don't know.

Projecting 2026+ is throwing darts. The new staff might be awesome at recruiting. The past group was certainly all about it. Too early to know.

PVI is just two seasons removed from one of the best lacrosse seasons in school history and last season was the best the basketball team ever had. Enrollment has been way up and applications way up. Where did you read that the lacrosse is equal to public? Name one public school program that is equall in talent? Better just admit your post was not correct and move on

Read the post again. It is a sarcastic reply to someone else. One of the pp was remarking on the public lax thread that those parents think few from that region are going to pay to go to private at the new pvi campus.

Yes, PVI went 10-3. 18-6 and 18-5 with the majority of those players coming from the old school location. Last year, they were 11-7 with a late season collapse and finished 5th in the WCAC. The talented 2026 class might not have enough players to get them back into the top 4 of the WCAC. After that, pretty bad.

PVI will never be a top two team in the WCAC.
SJC dumps tons of money into lacrosse. Multiple full scholarships every year.
Gonzaga has taken a similar philosophy to SJC.
GC coach works in admissions and brought in two mid year transfers in January.
No way PVI will match the money of a SJC, Gonzaga or GC.
Anonymous
6 or 7 top families for ML and NL living in NOVA all chose SJC over PVI. Money and distance made it an easy choice. Where are the VLC 27's attending?

If your post was sarcasm and your evidence was some other poster said some parents said something somewhere, you don't do this very well.

I replied to your sarcastic and baseless conclusions. Crickets.

It's more expensive at SJC so I'd question the parents' math skills? Is this the first time SJC has gotten VA players?
