Simple decision - Better stable coaching. Real lacrosse program.

Tough game. Not sure I see the point in playing 20 year olds.

Why are you saying St Stephen's is a quick 'turnaround'? Did they get new players or are you just pegging that off of Ince?

It could be a quick turnaround if Ince has the support of the school. Forge a relationship with a feeder club where that club gets highly discounted rates to use the school's facility for practices. Actively target lacrosse playing families who live within 15 minutes of the school for admission. Find a reason to discount tuition to at least come close to SJC and GZ. SSSAS does it basketball, they can do it in lacrosse. You only need 4-5 good players a year to field a team and be really competitive in lacrosse.

Finishing 9th or 10th in the area last year doesn't help you attract players after likely finishing about the same this coming year. Dodds may have been a nice guy but he just didn't recruit at all for like 4-5 years. But for Ince, who does he actually build the team around and really compete? To your example, SSSAS isn't good at basketball now that they lost their old coach. Also, if your tuition is over $50 k, a 20-25% discount is still more expensive than what we have here at SJC, GZ and GP. Competitive just isn't in the cards.

Yes the difference between SSSAS lacrosse in 2019 vs 2025 is staggering. More than Dodds it was the school deciding to commit less to athletics overall. The difference in football, for example, is similar. Selfishly I am glad my kids got out when the sports were still supported. It is difficult and frustrating to try to compete in that conference with the teams they have now. Not sure how a new coach changes this. Old football coach and Dodds now both at BI which is humorous as well.

Isn't the difference between 2019 and 2025 about $15 k per year?

If Ince didn't get any kind of assurances, he'll be gone soon. Potomac did the same thing a few years ago with a really good NL coach, Max Rozner. They told him all kind of stuff and nothing happened. He quickly moved on to Taft where he is now the head coach.

That is a good move!

Rozner was the Head at Potomac?

SSSA in a tough spot. Facilities are meh, school is co-ed and not that big, and the cost is high. Compared to other conference teams:

Landon / Prep are all boys with significantly more emphasis on athletics, far superior facilities, and Landon has a battalion of coaches.
Bullis is bigger with more flexible admissions (historically) and better facilities.
EHS is boarding, close to SSSA, with superior facilities.
StA is in a different world academically and all boys.

The WCAC schools are all cheaper and the top-tier ones have way better programs right now.

If the expectation is for Ince to be routinely competitive in the conference, that's unrealistic. If it's to run a more cohesive program, that could be possible.

SSSA just had a major upgarde in facilities

no school will be able to compete with SJC after this Spring.

the school is turning into a mini sports factory with little regard for academics.

Why is their football team down lately and their lacrosse team as well the last couple years?

Sounds like you expect this spring to be more of the same, what happens after then to change that?

Down the last coupling of years? They won the conference in 21, 22 and 23 and lost in championship last year by 1. Not sure who has had more success in the DMV.

If you follow WCAC football you know no one continues to dominate year after year. St. John’s had a good run. They don’t have a difference maker like the used to. Need to recruit better.

It’s not the IAC.
