Arguably that has more to do with the sheer number of impoverished mothers and poor health conditions in the third world than the inherent nature of either pursuit. Statistically, the birth rate being so much higher in the poorest countries would inevitably skew the numbers to show childbirth as much more dangerous than it really is. |
Sure. The numbers aren’t accurate or a true reflection of the dangers of childbirth, but I am sure there is no disputing any (male dominated) occupational safety concerns. 🙄 |
| After read this thread we need to reinstate the draft and include women. |
I thought this thread was about the US draft? What are the US rates for maternal mortality/morbidity? For US loggers? Women should be drafted, just like men. There are plenty of non-combat roles to go around. |
No one is conscripted into logging. But plenty of women get raped. Many of them by their fellow service members. |
So enforce the law in the military more. That's no excuse for women not being subject to the draft. Again, there are many countries around the world where military service is mandatory for both genders. |
Oh I thought we were all America first? We won’t bend to the whims of societal change in other countries? No? Either way. No. The military has shown they are teaming with misogyny and racism. They have shown zero will to make changes. But go ahead and have your daughter sign on up. Not every girl gets assaulted. Some have perfectly fine experiences. I personally don’t agree with the draft, so my answer to that isn’t to add more people to it. Just as I don’t think the answer to unequal pay is to lower everyone’s pay. But you do you. There are lots of opportunities for women in the military if they choose. Unlike their bodies, they still get a choice on this issue. |
Nice army of strawmen. Either women want full equality or they don't. And if the latter, please provide a legal reason for the exemption from the draft. Your rationale is actually misogyny in and of itself. |
It’s not. Just tired of women shouldering the burden of every single societal good with diminishing returns on investment. The “work of women” grows in scope and scale every year. The pay and respect is never commensurate. How on earth could women be trusted to make life and death decisions in the military? We can’t be trusted to make the best decisions regarding our health and fertility! So which is it? We are capable people that deserve the pay, respect, and same bodily autonomy as men? Because we don’t have that now. I’ve learned enough to know that society won’t turn around and see how much women do for their communities and reward them for it. That’s not ever how it has worked. The community just demands more, and shames women for trying. If men don’t want a draft they are welcome to lobby to change the law and I’m certain women would be supportive. |
Give it a rest. It like everything you do is so much more important vs what other people do. Pull your weight and stop looking for validation from everyone else. This is why Hillary was not elected. People like you. |
So you don’t have an argument? Not surprised. Lobby your congressmen if you are so worried about getting drafted. Be the change! |
I agree PP. These misogynistic scumbags basically just want women to DO EVERYTHING now. While will continue to bloviate and take credit for all the good in the world, while pissing and moaning and refusing to take responsibility for the bad (including the draft, conceived of, implemented, and perpetuated by those in power - also known as MEN…). Bunch of losers. |
Yes, that's totally correct and you should continue to do nothing.

The world fastest man: 9.58 sec; world fastest woman: 10.49 sec.
World weigh lift records at 55 kg: man at 135 kg, woman at 102 kg. Man and woman’s body are built differently. |
Either you don't know what your talking about or your logic is flawed. In the military everyone receives the same pay for the same rank/years of experience. So the only thing you could be talking about are professions outside of the military unless you are unaware of that fact. |
