Concurrent sucks. Let’s not do that.
But what do we do about quarantining for COVID and COVID-like illnesses (AKA colds). How do we keep kids from falling behind when they catch a cold? Or do we just ignore symptoms and send “sick” kids? |
The thing is, pre Covid, kids just came back to school and worked with teachers to get caught up. I kind of feel like we need to stick with that rather than keep this “if you need concurrent for a few days you can have it” thing. Because it won’t just be for Covid. It’ll be when families go on vacation and want their kids to log in. It’ll be when kids just feel like staying home. |
| No quarantining necessary for other kids in class as long as they were masked. |
Tbh I think that’s what schools will do. But what’s the policy going to be if a parent says “we are choosing to quarantine”? Cause we need a consistent policy on that. |
Wouldn’t it be treated as an absence like any other previous year? ES Teacher |
Kids who are out can do the work asynchronously. I will keep assignments posted on Schoology. Parents who choose to quarantine can go right ahead but the burden will be on the students and them to get caught up. If we could do rapid and frequent testing, we don’t need to deal with quarantine AT ALL, but I doubt Dr. Gloria and her employees will do anything that creates any extra work for themselves. |
I’m going with what 09:42 said. |
Me too. |
Teacher still haven't heard anything about how this will be happening. BBCU is gone but we are going to be up and running with Zoom. I know this is not what DCUM wants to hear but I would not be surprised at all if concurrent was brought back in the winter time. |
What about google meet? |
As teachers we haven't heard anything about this, but I would not be surprised if they told us that if the students can do asynchronous work on Schoology then it will be marked as ASYNC as it was in SIS last year or will be an excused absence. |
I think they’re going to allow kids to watch from home if they need to quarantine. I think what the school board approved was not concurrent the way we did in 2020-2021 / full time, not no concurrent whatsoever. |
I'm the PP, I'm not sure if FCPS has changed anything with Google Meet. They may allow it just like they did last year or they may push everyone towards Zoom. I haven't heard either way. |
Ok. You sound like a peach. You’ll have google meet open daily if your principal asks you to. It’s either that or deal with sick kids in class. |
This is the only thing that makes sense to me. Otherwise too many kids out all the time and that will be tough for a teacher to deal with all year. |
