Off-Topic
| this is a very annoying topic.. the fact that it was an article in the WP states the OP clearly takes some time to read the paper.. but big picture, some ppl do just think SAHM's are just unintelligent because they are not around adults/having stimulating conversations all day. I have a CPA, worked my tail off for years before staying home with my child.. my own in-laws have made comments on the topic, not expecting me to be aware of some social/economical issues because I "talk to a 3 yr old all day".. rude, insulting, and many other words I'll choose not to use.. SAHM made a difficult/unselfish decision and should be proud of ourselves and ignore the ignorant ppl who make such comments. |
| It's me, Ms. Rosin, jumping in late. My mom friends have all given me a whupping for that quote of mine. I have to say - I was speaking from a place of insecurity, not haughtiness. I am always nervous about seeming like a Washington journalist jerk. And I know when I was a new mom I didn't read the paper, or anything else, for at least a month. So that's what I meant to say, although clearly it did not transmit that way. Anyway, apologies to all those insulted. |
Um, I can see why! If the Post truly is trying desperately to broaden its female readership, methinks that Ms. Rosin stirred the wrong pot. |
| Is there actually any credible objective evidence that Ms. Rosin is smart, other than that she writes for the Post? I think people could debate the correlation of that credential with a number of "smarts." |
Thanks for posting this. |
