So dumb. |
| I have been all over Germantown, Rockville, Olney and Gaithersburg and many people are not wearing masks anymore. If the store requires it, then everyone is complying. |
A few things: -First, I’m sorry you and your DH are immunosuppressed and have a high risk child. That’s got to be scary during these times -Masks do work, and the quality of them matters: get N95s or double mask with a cloth/surgical mask over a KN95 (find one made in the US) for times when you need to go indoors, e.g., the grocery store -Being outdoors is a very, very low risk scenario for COVID transmission, unless you’re in a tightly packed crowd. Assuming not that, wear a cloth mask and you’ll reduce your risk to one that is vanishingly small -Talk to your PCPs and pediatricians if you haven’t already done so Good luck. |
Or maybe they just don’t think or care about you at all, because they had the opportunity to be vaccinated like everyone else. |
Are masks not required at the hospital? That sucks. |
Agreed - most Americans are inherently selfish and ignorant. They give zeros effs about kids or the immunocompromised. |
Until when? Covid is going to be with us forever, like the flu and other illnesses. How long should vaccinated people have to wear masks for the benefit of immunocompromised people? |
How big of a deal is it to wear a mask at a grocery store, pharmacy or doctors office? Not a big deal to me, at least, even if I am already vaccinated. At the bar or club, probably not, but the immunocompromised people are probably not hanging out there right now. Don't understand people who don't care at all about the basic needs of others. |
So, forever? No thanks. |
+1. Absolutely not. No chance. |
During flu and cold season, if they're sick and out in public? Probably always. |
I'm fine with a "should" rule. I don't expect we'll see a "must" rule, backed by law, for flu season. |
After a couple years, the virus will have settled down. Just like the 1918 flu turned into the "regular" flu. A couple of years of wearing masks in a couple of places is not a hardship for me. In fact, I've been so much healthier this year than I am wearing masks everytime I go to the doctor and pharmacy for the rest of my life. It's a small inconvenience that makes my life and those of people around me better. Why is it such a burden to you? Did you mom make you wear a mask to beat you? Or punish you? |
We could have had it under control with responsible behavior. If you want attention and a reaction don’t wear a mask. No big deal. But, if people avoid you don’t complain. |
The masks were a temporary, emergency measure during the pandemic. The pandemic is winding down in the US, as a result of vaccinations (among several reasons). I've been vaccinated for nearly two months now. There is no rational, scientific reason for me to keep wearing a mask. So, now, I don't agree that there's any reason to continue mask mandates. |
