Mine is not at this club but I would say our 03 class broke down as follows:
Dead set on D1 money and only focused as getting as much as possible. Dead set on academics and will only play college soccer/accept an offer if the academic fit is correct. Hoping for some combo of academics and soccer than can work. Focused on soccer and pursuing the highest level program for soccer without too much consideration of the rest. Roughly an equal split among the groups except for the last which is only 2 or 3 players. Is this breakdown typical for most of these competitive ecnl and da teams? |

Parent A pays 60,000 on their kids soccer experience from U9 until graduation
Parent A pays 100,000 after their kids gets a 20 percent scholarship Parent B pays the same in travel soccer cost but kids goes to school on full ride at lesser level D1 school. Parent B recoups money but doesn’t get to say my kid played at a Top 25. Parent A doesn’t recoup money but gets the photo op and bragging rights. A or B? |
|
None of the above. Spend your time and money taking a smart kid and making him a great student, or average kid and making them a good student. Soccer and other sports make you a complete person, not a complete lock on getting admitted or employed. |
I choose B |
You forgot this one, weird, or was it on purpose? Arlington 04 — 5 “LARGE” D1 schools, same as Richmond. |
Where is parent C? Educated affluent family with talented soccer playing girl who will also be an educated, likely affluent adult. Plays competitive soccer with the the other affluent talent and then goes off to college...maybe to play soccer and maybe not. We have a fair number if C's around our team....do not most? Who else can afford this? |
In this scenario I would choose B but My kid is not ecnl, I did not pay 60k since u9, and her mentality is this from previous post: set on academics and will only play college soccer/accept an offer if the academic fit is correct. |
Yep, forgot. What school are they going to? |
I choose A. VMI is 85% male and my DD can't wait to go play soccer there and then join the Marines afterwards. I get to brag on DCUM! win-win |

FCV parents: you should know that Skyline will only spend one year in GAL. They'll be in ECNL starting 2022; their boys are already in it starting this summer. I know this may be hard to hear, but you don't have a boys program and that's what's hurting you. BRYC will probably get booted as well; their best players are leaving for McLean/SYC, Arlington, and VDA.
FCV parents of younger players: just read the landscape; Loudoun will be the best destination if your daughter is ambitious. If FCV didn't abandon ECNL this would all be very different. |
This is false. GAL will rebuild and be better than the watered down ENCL clubs. MYS - a joke. Loudoun - a cash grab. VDA - took BRYCs TD and will become BRYC in two years, BRYC - weak. VYS and Alexandria will join GAL along with SOCA, FCV and MU to dominate. Looking forward to next year's Jeff Cup! |
Loudoun kicked out in 2 starting last summer |
Loudoun players already trying out at fcv |
