One thing that FCV does better then any other club or program across the DMV?

You're mistaken if you think GA caliber of competition and pace of play is going to best prepare these kids for college. The disparity is only going to get worse. Much worse. This year's Jeff Cup results were only the canary in the coal mine.

Top college coaches know this and soon it won't matter how much FCV staff can push kids to college coaches. Assuming those coaches even stay with FCV and the league for long.

I predict the 04 class will be the last strong recruiting class. And then a merger or dissolution of the club. But, you're right, FCV did have a nice history of placements over the years. I'm afraid that ride is over.

One thing FCV does better? Pretend that reflections of yesteryear on DCUM will be their foretelling. Remember when you were supposed to get ECNL and then Arlington did? lol

Imagine thinking that FCV is the only club in the area that knows college coaches and how to place players. Imagine thinking that editing film and “making calls” is something worth bragging about. FCV in a nutshell

Since FCV doesn’t know how to develop players (see how mediocre their u12 and younger teams are) they have to self promote to recruit talent. As a previous post noted, it was easy when they were 1 of 2 or 3 clubs in ECNL. Now, with GA, I can’t see why anyone wanting top college placement will want to go there. Game film against SOCA doesn’t convince a coach that the player is D1 quality. Colleges will question why did she play at FCV when she could have competed in ECNL with 5 clubs in nova and Bethesda across the river.

Imagine all other clubs have to do is have FCV’s pull. Imagine if other clubs promoted their 04 girls to go to NTC or ECNL equivalent like FCV has done for years, Just think how that would help their players get more looks or offers early, but behold DMV clubs are lazy and didn’t set them up like we did at FCV. Surrounding clubs stink at knowing how to build a kids portfolio to make top colleges look their way. FCV has all the pull and knowledge just ask the seven 04 girls who have received call ups to NTC. What has your club done? What will they do? You can say a lot about FCV but FCV has shown they get the job done by pushing and supporting our girls in the program to get to highest levels. Clear as day, just think to yourself, how many girls on my DD team been invited or supported to even get a look or opportunity at the next level? I will wait.

I agree for one girls team in each older age group they do a nice job. Rest of the club not so much, but they do a nice job for the GA teams.

Nice marketing pitch Bobby. FCV has some magical pull? Even bryc is placing girls at Princeton. No one is disputing the success you have now due to your prior recruiting based on a platform in the top league. Everyone is just stating that without that hook the current success will be ending. Too many options for top players to go to ecnl. 07 and younger players are already shopping around and the ones who can place in the top ecnl A teams will leave for the exposure that league provides while you wait for next years Jeff cup to lose to an ecnl team.

I hear MYS girls also get recruited. Just facts.

Let’s break it down bud!
McLean 04? 0 Large D1 schools
BRYC 04? 0 Large D1 schools however 03 had about 3-4 out of that whole team?
Loudoun 04? NO Large D1 schools
VDA 04? 0 Large D1 schools
Richmond 5 LARGE D1 schools
Metro 04? 0 Large D1 schools
FCV 04? 7 LARGE D1 schools

What does Richmond and FCV have in common? Promotion, that’s the common name of the game and they do it best. They get those girls seen.

FCV seems to have a solid pathway to several Division 2 schools, notably VMI for the 2021s.

As for a merger didn’t FCV already partner with South County after the St James deal?

I would have to agree. It’s not due to more talent when some of those teams beat that FCV team, so to me it is clear. If they can get those girls looked at and committed without even having good competition then what else can it be then knowing the right people. Soccer is mostly who you know and who can get you to those places. FCV won’t lose those college connections or the connection that gets those kids the chance at the National Training center.
