AEM is not happy about SB1303

I don’t buy that. My friends and I have repeatedly reported some of the open school folks who are constantly attacking teachers, and they don’t get banned.

Specifically, there are two dads who are total jerks to people on that forum. One constantly talks about how teachers are second rate and how they suck. The other one will hop in at any time to criticize anyone who wanted school closed and loves to beat a dead horse.

What’s really sad is that I know exactly who you’re talking about. I don’t understand how these people think they are helping their kids.

Stop being so childish by continuing to deny that SR made a positive contribution to our schools openly safely.

They pushed for the data.
They pushed for the analysis.
They pushed for the air cleaners.

I don’t get why you are denying this.

Okay, here’s your participation trophy.

Why deny their contributions?

FWIW I’m not even a member of SR. I just detest irrational jerks trying to crap on other people who are making a difference.

Aw, did you want a cookie instead? The pandemic is causing some people to stress eat, but it’s really not good for you.

I don’t want anything for myself.

But if you can’t muster an ounce of intellectual honesty and give a sincere “thanks” to SR then at least shut up already. Your pettiness is getting old.

If that’s the standard you’re going by, you should be thanking me as well because I did email Duran and board with my concerns about the masking policy, which has since changed. You’re welcome.

But I still think SR has been more of a hindrance than a help.

What were your concerns about the masking policy?

Oh, so now you think there should be room for debate over whether someone’s safety advocacy was constructive or not?

Were they in line with Harvard Chan’s recommendations?

LOL, such a hypocrite.

SR has been pushing concerns about how APS measures up to expert recommendations.

And you? Were your concerns based on expert recommendations?

Let me guess, you wanted masks to be optional.

You couldn't be more wrong. About many things.

How am I wrong?

SR has been pushing for recommendations from Harvard Chan. I’m grateful they’ve been doing that.

If you were also pushing recommendations from respected experts (not the MyPillowGuy), I’d say thank you to you too.

Go back, read the discussion again, and figure out why you are making a fool of yourself right now. It might take a little critical thinking, but I certainly hope you're capable of that.

SR helped our community by advocating for important safety measures that were recommended by experts. They pushed APS to do this. The only debate here is why is tough for people people to stop being petty and recognize that.

Read the bolded, and then try to understand how you are showing your ass all over the place when you accuse the pp of advocating for masks being optional and policies recommended by the MyPillow Guy. If this is the level of critical thinking that goes into SR's analysis, that's one more reason not to trust their conclusions.

PP hasn't shared her recommendations. Were they supported by experts? Were they actually included in the mask policy changes? How do we know what she's pushing for?

And WTF does "showing your ass all over the place" mean?

What we knew in the fall was much different than what we know now.

NO. The guidance is the exact same from the Fall as it is now.

What you know now is how dumb it was to keep schools closed.

What SR “knew” in the fall is different from what SR “knows” now, but that’s not the same thing as what experts knew in the fall vs. what experts know now.

A lot has changed and evolved as we've learned more and vaccines became available.

SR people went from primarily ventilation to ventilation + vaccines, etc.

And once APS started engaging, they were able to progress and drill down on what else was needed. It's hard to know what is needed when you don't have the data from APS.

OMG this thread is everythign that's wrong in Arlington. Can we start a separate bash SR thread (sarcasm)? Must it creep into everything? Whats the status of the bill? Is northam signing or what? What's he waiting for?

It can take a week or two for a bill to be ready for the governor’s signature. Northam has signaled his approval of he bill with the last round of amendments, though, so I would be surprised if he doesn’t sign it.

SR didn't even exist back in the fall, idiot.

The people were all around back in the fall, they just hadn't given themselves an official name yet. It's not like SR exists independent of the people who run it.

APE complains about literally anyone who is grounded in reality because they see them as an impediment to normal. Now that APE has in person school, they are pushing for five days in person, backing off on masking, backing off on social distancing. And they are IRATE that some teachers are still teaching their in person precious from home because you know, ADA exemptions.

These people need to just move to Texas. The rest of us get that we're in a pandemic.

Why do you think we need any of that stuff if all the teachers are vaccinated? Doesn’t make sense.

More important question. Which route do you want to take? This one looks good.

Not answering my question, nice. Well, enjoy your AEM echo chamber and years of distance “learning,” I suppose.

NO.
If you look at the guidance now vs. the guidance in the fall it’s the same.

And yet this morning again with the dang air filters!
Kids have gone back to school. Yesterday someone asked about school check ins and there were only positive responses. I am sure that bothered most of AEM. The person who asked was definitely hoping for different answers.

You are mental.

APE is pushing for 5 days for the fall.. totally reasonable. And APS will lose a ton of students if they don't commit to this. Everyone should be advocating for 5 days unless they want more severe budget cuts and loss of good families that contribute to the PTA, run various school social programs, events and overall make the school community a more enjoyable place.
