I’m not the one running WTU’s social media. Maybe they need to explain what they meant, because to me the clear meaning of that retweet is “schools are not safe even with teacher vaccination.” |
With no evidence the vaccine will cover the new mutations. Gtfoh I’m not sending my kid back and I’ll fight against anything that creates an unequal system for parents who chose distance learning. No way should dcps open five days a week with community spread this high. Kids are carriers. ’m not gonna be vaccinated Any time soon because I’m young and healthy. Please just stop. |
But you seem perfectly happy to infer when it serves your needs! I’m sorry William and Caroline didn’t get the seats you believe they deserve at their Ward 3 elem for Term 3. Better luck with hybrid next year! |
For your kid!!! Your kid isn’t every kid. I’ve got three. My youngest class will be shuffled and over 35 as per the parent meeting. My middle the teacher will be teaching on the computer live from school with a mask on to other students, my middle already struggles with engagement with the teacher constantly checking in to make sure she’s attending. No way she can do that now. I have no idea what happens to my oldest. His teacher was forced to take leave because she had chemo and radiation earlier in the year and was called back in person. She was clear about wanting to remain virtual and honestly my oldests teacher was probably the best out of all of them. |
lol is WTU really this stupid about messaging? |
Yes. Throughout this entire sh*tshow the thing I’ve found most fascinating is how truly awful the WTU talking points and messaging are. If they had even one competent PR person this would be going very differently for them. At least they’ve stopped telling their trolls to accuse parents of wanting in person school because they don’t like their kids or want to be around them. That was grade A bizarre when attempting to drum up support. |
| The anti-parent rhetoric is not something I’ve heard from ANY teachers IRL. This is an anonymous board, so we don’t know the posters are. Some people just love drama and upsetting others. |
100%. Why sign the MOU in the first place. So much wasted time went into this plan. |
| Sorry, in trying to skip all the bickering, I couldn’t see if someone had actually posted that the arbitration ruling came out against the union. https://dcist.com/story/21/01/31/dc-public-schools-cleared-to-welcome-students-back/?fbclid=IwAR2UPQ3fzAPsiKazNK0DKyRAyfPn57-a9Oj6U7PL337cS1xhCIKx8BM22a4 |
What’s the real time impact of this in terms of reopening and the unions refusal to do so |
Wow! Thanks for posting! This is the first I've heard. Crickets from the union so far today after we were assured we would be informed by email within 3 hours. Liz must have know last night when she sent out the email with the approved action and the call for the meeting today. I hope this comes up today; she gets so many passes for epic mistakes she has made. |
Washington Post is reporting this too, https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/dc-schools-dispute/2021/01/31/3e90d7ea-63c8-11eb-8468-21bc48f07fe5_story.html |
| Watkins and Coolidge not allowed to reopen |
Okay but the union is saying all teachers remain remote? Still not sure what to expect tomorrow |
Coolidge? I’m surprised. They just renovated it! It’s should 100% be up to code in terms of air filtration, HVAC, windows opening, etc. I wish we could find out where the issue is (or if it really was just too brief of a walkthrough) because the council should investigate the construction company who did the renovation then. |
