No comparison between DJO and BI programs right now. Pat Young in his 3rd year and doing a solid job building BI program and DJO coaching situation has zero stability. The are more than enough lacrosse players in area to build DJO and BI into competitive programs, but it takes time for a good coach to build a program in a league as competitive as WCAC. Plus, a small number of elite HS programs hoarding so much top talent now that there are large numbers of kids who are good and don’t get to play. Schools like DJO and BI need to focus on recruiting those players because they can offer what elite programs cannot - playing time against great competition.

BI only had like 25 kids come out. They don't even have a JV. Pat Young may be a good coach but I don't know what happened to them this year. Both programs would lose to GZ and SJC JV teams. McNamara and SMR aren't very good either. Should split up WCAC like they do in football. PVI would switch places with McNamara. By the way, DJO can't defend either, they were down like 15-0 at halftime against GZ. WCAC is a bad lacrosse conference as there is no depth. SJC v DJO on Saturday will be a snoozefest. PVI is playing GZ and SJC next week, those will be fun games to see.

Fake news and wrong news. BI has 25 kids on varsity and isn’t playing JV season this spring b/c they’ve already had two Covid outbreaks, been shutdown for last two weeks, and haven’t played any games yet. Don’t disagree on separation btw Gonzaga, SJC, PVI, and rest of WCAC, but aside from McNamara, the rest are at a similar level.

nope. they don't have enough players for JV. what you stated doesn't make any sense.

Only 25 kids also means no one in pipeline too. I thought a bunch of TC kids were playng there. But I guess not. BI seemed like they were getting better. It’s too bad. DJO is a disaster and Giblin made it worse. They didn’t deserve coach quitting and losing another year of recruiting.

the sports obsessed WCAC is not a lacrosse league and it will always be known for football and basketball.

GZ and SJC will remain top dogs in lacrosse for a foreseeable future. As a result of SJC aggressive recruiting tactics (they have now been eating into DeMatha's market by getting kids from Crofton area and evenAnnapolis) I don't see them fading at all.

PVI will only get to the next level if there is a change with the coaching staff. They should be better than they are with their new move beautiful campus.

DeMatha is solid but certainly not what they used to be under the Dick Long era.

After these 4 teams in the WCAC, there is such a drastic drop off in the league it makes you wonder if they should really have an A and B Division similar to what they do in football.

SJC gets nothing out of playing DJC and vice versa, its not fun for the players, the parents and coaches.

BI's boys lax has indeed been impacted because of Covid. Several schools either aren't fielding a JV team this season or don't have space available on their schedule. This is true for several schools on the girls side as well. Unfortunately, this season is a mess.

heard from a parent that they didn't have enough kids to field a JV team. there was no mention of COVID affecting that. but maybe parents are not allowing some kids to play due to COVID fears?

Players should be happy to play for DJO this spring even if its not taken as seriously as other sports where they can continue to learn how to play it better.

Is there a schedule for O'Connell lacrosse? There are no games listed on the overall O'Connell sports calendar nor the lacrosse team's page. Girls lacrosse has games.

There is a schedule. I just think with the coaching staff turnover, they haven't updated the website and have been using TeamSnap to communicate things that would normally go online.

Thanks. Seems like updating their site is a minimum, coaching turnover or not.

MaxPreps has their schedule - https://www.maxpreps.com/high-schools/bishop-oconnell-knights-(arlington,va)/lacrosse/schedule.htm

I have never seen anyone refer to Good Counsel as OLGC before, whoever did that threw me off.

It’s not referred to as OLGC bc OLGC is the grade school in Vienna. It’s been good counsel for at lest my lifetime. The same poster refers to a St Mary’s which is also not used, it is Ryken.

Maxpreps says OLGC and SMRHS - these probably are the same schools both posters are referring to.

OLGC is also in Olney. Where did you think the name Good Counsel came from? Vienna is using the full name to try and distinguish from the much more well-known HS.

MaxPreps reports Oconnell lost to GC/OLGC/Good Counsel 10-2. GC JV won too
