Jack Rowlett at DJO

VLC families are primarily PVI kids if they are looking for a WCAC program.
DJO would have been an uphill recruiting battle but hiring the Top Caliber founder and his coaches to support seemed like a good way to get recruiting off the ground...are those guys staying or taking over? Have they officially left JWR?

Are these schools really out recruiting middle school aged kids?

My assumption has always been that its a pretty equal split of the parents approaching the desired schools, and the other part club team coaches approaching parents to pull kids to different clubs.

The major movement seems to start at 6th grade level.

Yes. They (HS coaches) reach out to club coaches after seeing players at tryouts, games, film, etc.

So O'Connell has hired coaches from Top Caliber?

Seems like with PVI moving out west that VLC (or any other club) located near O'Connell would consider that instead of relocating their family for HS lacrosse.

I've seen PVI advertise a prospect day, but not any others. What is the offer from the schools, admission or scholarship?

Lax parents tend to through around the amount of scholarship their DS is getting from a D1 school, which never really adds up as fully funded programs are only authorized 12 total for a 50+ person roster. My personal favorites are when they talk about the "full ride" DS is getting from an Ivey...

Admission. A roster spot. Playing in the top conference in the country. In the case of PVI, a gorgeous new facility and campus and the religious education.

Aren't the owners/founders of Top Caliber the Madison HS coaches? Just won state championship last year, wouldn't really see them moving to O'Connell at this point.

Surprised Rowlett would have left that quickly unless he got unbelievable offer in the college ranks...

In Lax? PVI is way behind GZ and SJC. Two years ago, PVI was somehow ranked ahead of SJC in IL even though the latter won both matchups including a 14-5 butt-kicking in the playoffs. Rest of the conference is terrible. I think BI is making progress but this is a HUGE setback for DJO. Only STA is bad in the IAC. In Football and Hoops, no doubt the WCAC is the best.

VLC has kids from many schools. Mostly public schools. They do not push schools on the families

DJO would be quite a drive for most VLC families 2025's and younger. We thought about DJO when we heard what Coach R was trying to do there, but it's so far away and we'd probably have to move. Great school though.

Look at the rosters for SJC and GZ and see how far people go. Rabil commuted a lot farther to go to DeMatha. Of course VLC 2025s are not even remotely strong enough to compete with the big boys, but it is better than what they have and they would beat the lower half of WCAC in 3 years. Pat Young at BI is doing a good job building that program.
