The cascading lies call into question the quality of her research and writing. What if she just made up everything in her books and essays? What if she taught her students a version of “history” that just isn’t true? What if she fabricated and exaggerated historical information?

Her career is a mirage.

Easier to get a job. Not too many qualified applicants to compete against.

Worked for Elizabeth Warren and now this professor. When there is incentive to cheat, people will cheat.

For Warren there was apparently a distant genetic link and family lore. This woman straight up made up that she was North African, then later a black Latina from the Bronx, even though she is a white, Jewish woman from Kansas. Even tried to speak with a fake accent. I don't think there are many similarities here.

This. Warren repeated family lore, which was apparently based on reality. This lady claimed at least two different ethnic heritages that weren't actually hers, AND she lied about what city she was from, AND she used her fake position to challenge and berate other POC in academia (as well as white people).

Also, how did no one flag that she was clearly not from the Bronx?

That's just a little racist, but you knew that.

No. I wish people understood the definition of “racist.”

Wow, that's crazy too. I feel sorry for his husband and parents!

This has to be some form of psychopathy.

DP but yes, putting certain skills on an entire race (e.g. "Asians are good at math") is, of course, racist.

DP. Uh no, it’s pre-judging or applying stereotypes......not racist. Educate yourself dummy.

Then lied about her mother being raped.

She is despicable.

This woman has no business teaching a salsa class. I'm black, not Latina, but even I can see that.

Sterotypes based on race is racism. It's the literal definition.

I am curious, how do you clearly identify a Bronx resident? Do they have a special handshake or tattoos?

Did she never encounter another Bronx resident? Because there is a whole conversation that happens about your neighborhood/street/school/etc. It would be pretty hard to fake.

Also, her accent was garbage.

OMG, I forgot about that lie. Gross.

I mean, so what if she pretended to be black? It may be considered offensive to some people, but she is far from the only one doing this, Kardashians anyone?! Obviously, she has some deep seated issues, and I find it sad more than anything. She didn’t commit a crime, yes, she lied, but who really cares?

Everyone constantly calls out the Kardashians for cultural appropriation. And they don’t even pretend they’re black - just pick and choose what they like from the culture while talking about their Armenian heritage.

This woman’s actions have taken opportunities from actual minorities.

Everyone, including this Jessica person, needs to get off social media, cultivate an interest/hobby, get a more demanding job, get a few pets, go volunteer somewhere, go do yard work, pick up sticks, take a bike ride, run around the block a few times, cook a meal, bake a cake, anything, just GET A LIFE....
