She knew what to say to the police.

She is 41 years old.

She is accountable for her actions.

Maybe she is not married or broke up with her BF or does not have a SO and is stressed? Maybe she is sad because she does not have kids and she did not freeze her eggs? Maybe she is sad because her kids are not bright and her SO is a jerk? Maybe she is unhappy at work because there is a toxic work environment at Franklin Tempelton? Maybe she is not as successful as her other classmates from Booth? Maybe she realized that she will always be alone? Maybe her parents abused her as a kid? Maybe she is an addict with erratic behavior? Maybe she is a racist and also entitled?

Why say she is stressed about COVID-19? There could be so many things wrong with her.

You are dense.

^^What an odd reply.

By way of example, let me share my teenage son's experience yesterday - he was verbally harassed leaving a park in our neighborhood by some older white men. My husband, who is not white, witnessed this, it seemed totally unprovoked, and he confronted the men. It ended without violence or police, but even the confrontation was shocker since my husband and son are both about the most conflict-averse people I've ever met.

We later learned from my son's friend that other kids they knew had been in an argument with the older men over some recreational equipment at the park. My son spent a few minutes sitting with his friends and they were laughing about the argument. They were sarcastic and probably even mocking. Should the white men have harassed my son when he was leaving the park? No, of course not - he hadn't even had any contact with them. But he wasn't entirely blameless either.

Everyone is a little nuts these days. I think that Central Park woman was wrong and what she did was dangerous. But without seeing what preceded the snippet, I'm hesitant to call for her firing and imprisonment (as many, many people on Twitter already have done.)

She pretended to be assaulted. She basically called a firing squad on this man.

Also...I think that you should quit with your fake story. Your DH and son are not non-White.

PP here: it's an absolutely true story. Why would I bother writing this otherwise?

I don't condone what the Central Park woman did. I'm just pointing out that the video may not tell the whole story.

There are some serious nuts on here who are obsessed with women who either don't marry or don't have kids young enough which in their minds is a failure.

They never say is a man is 'depressed' because he doesn't have kids. Meanwhile marriages are failing left-and-right and you could not pay me $1 million to be stuck at home as the primary parent during a pandemic.

Sarcasm is lost on people. I am giving examples of everything that people will try to pin her behaviour on. All kinds of so called personal "tragedies" that will exonerate her behavior. Everything but to admit that she is a racist and a Nazi, who has no value for the life of a Black person.

I have no idea why you shared this story, even if it’s true. The only similar thing is that your story took place in a park. Your son may have been a jerk to some stranger, but no one called the police and lied about being attacked by a black man. Do you not see the difference? Seriously?

Response on a national holiday in the middle of night. This company is pretty impressive.

She was upset because a black man corrected her. How dare he speak to her and tell her she was wrong? I
watched Just Mercy today. A story about a black man who was on death row because he was wrongly accused of killing a white woman.

He is a Harvard educated man in his late 50s. She is well educated and in her early 40s. All she had to do was put the leash on and walk away. Instead she pretended to be in distress. Without the video he could have been arrested or shot. I've witnessed a similar situation. The white woman called the police, started crying and acting hysterical because my brother approached her when she almost hit his kids with her car in a parking lot. How dare a black man correct a white woman?!
No excuses for this woman. She attempted to use his race to hurt him and she lied to try to make it happen. I hope she gets what she deserves and learns from her actions.

How did they even find out her name?

Her former dog walker identified her. She also has an Instagram for her dog. It seems like he gets mysteriously injured an awful lot!

The dog and she took her mask off briefly on video.

NYC is large but also extremely connected at the same time.

One person recognized her from the dog’s Instagram.

Two of her dog sitters confirmed her name.

People matched her face to her company LinkedIn profile.

It is so sad a Harvard educated bird watcher gets falsely accused of assaulting a white woman. Luckily he was able to film the interaction. Off leash dogs are a huge threat to migrating birds! This describes where the woman was illegally walking her dog.

"The Ramble is the single most popular wooded area of the park for birding, particularly where the stream nicknamed "The Gill" flows. In the spring, the treetops are lush with migrating warblers."

What utter hubris of that woman to call the police on the bird watcher when she was doing something illegal! She needs to be cited for having her dog off leash at a minimum.

Central Park this morning: This woman's dog is tearing through the plantings in the Ramble.

ME: Ma'am, dogs in the Ramble have to be on the leash at all times. The sign is right there.
HER: The dog runs are closed. He needs his exercise.
ME: All you have to do is take him to the other side of the drive, outside the Ramble, and you can let him run off leash all you want.
HER: It's too dangerous.
ME: Look, if you're going to do what you want, I'm going to do what I want, but you're not going to like it.
HER: What's that?
ME (to the dog): Come here, puppy!
HER: He won't come to you.
ME: We'll see about that...

I pull out the dog treats I carry for just for such intransigence. I didn't even get a chance to toss any treats to the pooch before Karen scrambled to grab the dog.

HER: DON'T YOU TOUCH MY DOG!!!!!

That's when I started video recording with my iPhone, and when her inner Karen fully emerged and took a dark turn...

<video>

So, he set her up. He should not be asking a dog to come to him. He should not be feeding the dog and if he is going to show a video, show the entire thing. Its a bit creepy for a man to be trying to get her dog away from her and feed it.

What does Harvard have to do with it?

We don't know what happened in terms of the interactions before he recorded it. Clearly he provoked her in some way to get the reaction and she was in a panic because of what he said prior.
