You are really stupid. Duke is ranked ahead of 3 schools in the Ivy League. Its NUMBER 10 in the country. There are only 9 schools ranked higher. You really sound moronic so I hope you never say this crap n public.

Welcome to the real world buddy. Does anyone really pick Duke over Brown or Dartmouth? Not in the DMV.

Duke is a backup for kids who did pretty well. Didn't get into Princeton, Penn, Dartmouth, or Northwestern? Then Duke. Better than ending up at Emory or Vanderbilt. That's where the kid goes that didn't get into Duke.

This is silly. Again. All these Duke hater/experts who probably have never actually faced these decisions about which they speak so authoritatively. I personally picked Duke over Northwestern and Penn in 1997. At that time, Duke was ranked higher than both those schools (and Brown and Dartmouth, which are both great schools). I’m not sure what the rank is now but let’s just say it’s 10 as other posters claim.

Why do you care so much? Meanwhile, babbling PP probably picked Maryland over American....smh

Ok. So a quarter century ago you made a decision you now regret? No one would make that choice today.

Let me ask you. Where did YOU go to college? Did you go to college? As for regrets, as I think someone else said earlier, I’ve been pretty happy with the fruits of my Duke degree in my work life. Sure, my magnets and flags are apparently deficient but my professional life has been pretty sweet. Ha

O.k boomer.

Ha. This is either a kid or someone that didn’t go to school at all. We know the type: Pandemic white wine sippin at 2:34 pm, living vicariously through their sophomore about schools he or she has yet to (and probably will not) get accepted to. I got trolled. Good stuff. Thanks for the giggle....

GDS is more like 30 percent to the Ivys, with a number admitted to top Ivys.

Oh dear, Ivys VS. Top Ivys.

I do hope you get into the country club of your choice Ducks.

I just watched the Langley destinations on the VA public schools forum. It’s a very impressive list and now I can’t help but wonder why our private school struggled with UVA admissions this year.

How does someone in their early 40s turn into a Boomer? Just because they are reasonably proud of having gone to Duke?

You people are very strange.

I recall people picking Duke over Penn well before 1997 FWIW so that’s hardly an outlandish claim.

This chain is about the class of 2020. Not the class of 19-whatever.

Whoosh - over the head.

Our private struggles with admissions to UVA as well. Maybe we are at the same school? UVA seems to like really high GPAs. Our school has no grade inflation and the lower GPAs just don’t cut it for UVA admissions. Frustrating!!

Really? Why? I don't have any connection to either school, but certainly view McGill as providing a better undergraduate education than Michigan. McGill impresses me more. No Saturday football games, but do kids actually still go to them, or is it only their parents and the old alumni?

OMG, this thread is hilarious! People, FWIW smart people are at every school, not just the Ivies. Parents, send your kids to schools where they will thrive. If you want your kid to be a CEO, perhaps Texas A&M might be a better choice.

Duke is all NJ/ NY now. Nothing southern about it.

Which explains why so many people hate Duke

You can't spell Duke without Douchebag.
