Love The Great British Baking Show. Kindness, modesty, self-deprecation, perseverance, stoicism in the face of adversity and laced with lashings of good humour. |
If you do the Acorn trial and like All Creatures Great and Small, you have to try The Yorkshire Vet! It's a reality show filmed in James Herriott's old practice. The staff and animal owners are very kind and hard-working. Other options: Be our Chef on Disney Plus, the Great Family Cooking Show on Netflix, American Ninja Warrior (people work hard and get cheered on for it!). Vicar of Dibley. Scrubs--I don't know if I'd call the characters "mannerly" but they work hard and mostly as a team to help people. Maybe Touched by an Angel? Home Town on HGTV. Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives on the Food Network. Julia Child and other cooking shows on PBS. Rick Steves' travel shows. Salt Fat Acid Heat and Tidying Up with Marie Kondo on Netflix. Pitbulls and Parolees (again, maybe not mannerly per se but they are kind to each other and the animals). Undercover Boss. I really like The Middle too...they aren't always nice to each other but their family is a team and it's often very funny. |

Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune |
Hmm. I found Call the Midwife too dark. But it’s always recommended with good shows I like. Maybe I’ll have to give it another go. |
DP here and I completely agree. Such a great show and so different from so many others. |
PREACH |
Same. The first few seasons are ok, then it takes a weird and political and dark turn. I watched it pre kids so the death didn’t bother me as much. Could never watch it now. |
IIRC Party of Five would be in this category? |
A Place to Call Home on Acorn TV. |
Star trek tng |
I'll add AMEN to that! |
I loved this but never see it recommended here. Such a great cast too. |
Family Matters Cosby Show Different World Blackish |
I wouldn’t say people are always mannerly and kind on Little House, but the show does preach good values. |
Can we just stipulate that there's no show where every person is always mannerly and kind? No debate necessary. |
