Jew here and no. While the show is quite good, the community in reality is not.

Why? Yes, I know about the nyc mask hoarder. Is that typical?

Oh lord. Try listening to this. https://www.thisamericanlife.org/534/a-not-so-simple-majority

PPs you are seriously flirting with anti semitism.

The Israeli show Shtisel, which takes place in Jerusalem, has nothing to do with a group of Ultra Orthodox Jews in Suburban NY.

Please don’t conflate all Jews around the world as one. Even if you are Jewish.

(I am a Jew from suburban NY Btw)

And I totally recommend Cranford and Larkrise to Candleford

The first post was about the Hasidic community, which is the subject of the American Life episode.

You are not very bright. The Hasidic community in suburban NY is not connected to the ultra orthodox in Jerusalem. Just like we don’t paint all Muslims or Christians with the same brush . . .

Also asking if antisocial behavior of one small community of Jews in one part of the world is “typical” of all Jews is antisemitic. Try replacing the word Jews with other ethnic or racial groups and maybe you will understand.
