All Creatures Great and Small was king of this kind of show back in the day.
Agree! It's currently being broadcast on Sunday evenings and another time each week on WETA channel 26 (PBS). Anyone know if it streams somewhere? It holds up so well despite its age! Agree on many others too, shows as extremely different from each other as "Call the Midwife" and "Schitt's Creek" though it can take some time with the latter to watch the characters grow into their kinder selves as they shed their shells. Worth the time though. If anyone likes gentle, slowly paced British TV, there's an obscure "dramedy" called "Kingdom" about a solicitor (type of lawyer) in a middle-sized English town. The title character is the kindest person ever created on TV, I think, and basically parent to everyone even when he knows they are not acting kindly themselves. Yet he seems believable to me. You can see it for free on Roku TV and it's also on Acorn TV (Acorn is running a free month trial, code FREE30).
If you do the Acorn trial and like All Creatures Great and Small, you have to try The Yorkshire Vet! It's a reality show filmed in James Herriott's old practice. The staff and animal owners are very kind and hard-working. Other options: Be our Chef on Disney Plus, the Great Family Cooking Show on Netflix, American Ninja Warrior (people work hard and get cheered on for it!). Vicar of Dibley. Scrubs--I don't know if I'd call the characters "mannerly" but they work hard and mostly as a team to help people. Maybe Touched by an Angel? Home Town on HGTV. Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives on the Food Network. Julia Child and other cooking shows on PBS. Rick Steves' travel shows. Salt Fat Acid Heat and Tidying Up with Marie Kondo on Netflix. Pitbulls and Parolees (again, maybe not mannerly per se but they are kind to each other and the animals). Undercover Boss. I really like The Middle too...they aren't always nice to each other but their family is a team and it's often very funny.
