Why do you think your risk is greater somewhere else? In a city like DC, you have just as much chance of getting it as you might in, say, SF. Right?

I’m with you.

Yes. I agree with this as well.

It’s about avoiding potential quarantine across the country from your baby and toddler too.

Thank you!!! How do people not understand this?
If you get quarantined at home, you are with your children. If you get quarantined in a hotel across the country that’s a really difficult situation emotionally fir the children and how do you handle childcare? Sure, the nanny agreed to take care of the kids for 5 days for extra pay - that’s very different than taking care of them full time with zero breaks for weeks on end. Who can afford that?

Anyone have an opinion on this? ILs are older but healthy for their ages. Worried more about not being able to get back to the US. FIL a US citizen, MIL is not.

What are the ILs general plans regarding visits? Do they come once a year? Every other month?

I think most people would want to go home after a month visit. How soon do they want to come back to the U.S. that this is a concern?

There was just a case there. I would not go based on possible community spread in 3 weeks time.

That was in Santo Domingo, the capital. Punta cana is farther away....

I would avoid large crowds and big events (concerts, rallies, sports events) more than I would avoid travel. I wouldn't travel to Iran, China, or Northern Italy but outside of that I don't think rhebrisknis any greater than at home. The bigger concern is getting caught up in a quarantine.

My parents are currently on a month long multi Asian country trip. Planned for a long time and not likely to happen if they didn't go now. In one of the countries they had their temp taken every time they entered the hotel as well as at malls and a few other places. They haven't had any other issues other than worrying about their temps and getting put in isolation. Where they are now, they haven't had any precautions taken. They said hotels and flights are still pretty full. No real sign the virus has led to tourists staying away in the countries they have been to.

Need to come back every six months at a minimum to maintain MIL’s green card status. They probably come back about every three months since they moved back there.

Honestly I would only cancel China, s Korea, Iran, and Italy.
Who wants to go to Iran anyway!
Provided there are no massive closures, I would travel to any other place.
