Why is kate Middleton considered “classy” and Meghan Markle is not?

I think it’s terrible that anyone holds the actions of Meghan’s family against her. Everyone has people in their family that are embarrassing and/or shameful. There but for the grace of god go I.

This. She gave her father every chance until he sold her out. She found out he wasn't coming to the wedding from TMZ. She came out on the other side stronger, and knowing which parent had her back.

Also - who is the PP who said that Kate essentially got a Masters? She got a 2:1 bachelor's degree, the same as William.

That would be the person who thinks every British accent is elegant. They have no idea there are variations or what the British education system entails.

She's 'classy' because she's a quiet, dutiful, timid Stepford wife.

While Meghan is seen more as the powerful, beautiful woman whose taken the world by storm.

My thing is - women like Kate get looked over and forgotten as they age. (Not saying I like it, but it always happens) Women like Meghan while well-known in their youth become cause celebre's as they age.

Huge difference in power and lifelong glamour.

If you want classy, the epitome of class is the Princess Royal Anne. She is not particularly attractive, is a dowdy dresser, and shows her age. Yet she does more work than any other royal with great poise and grace. She labors out of the limelight for her many patronages but is well loved by those in the UK who understand and respect her work.

Meghan and Kate are clickbait for the royal family and you and many others have fallen for it.

I’ve always thought of Anne as gay.

She loves those military dress uniforms way too much for a woman with three brothers.

What an odd comment that reflects a lack of class and knowledge if the Princess Royal. Because of her ongoing efforts for the British Navy relief and families, she is an honorary Navy admiral and wears the uniform on the many military occasions she attends to support the Navy.

The homophobia, hoplophobia, and xenophobia around the Princess Royal is unfortunate.

As someone who has toxic parents, I get what Meghan did.

I find Kate super classy because she is down to earth, genuine, and ladylike.

Meghan is beautiful but she was a D-list celebrity and keeps acting like one. My guess is that she'll be better at being a royal over time.

A - I had no idea there were concerns about her previously via your last statement.

B - Regarding the Navy admiral schtick - Anne was born long before absolute primogeniture became acceptable (the Charlotte change). With Andrew and Edward there was no need or desire really for her to serve as Colonel of the Regiment of the Blues and Royals. It’s especially weird that she’s an honorary Navy admiral when it’s ANDREW that actually served in the Navy. Anne has 10X the military appointments of Edward who ranks higher in succession than she does.

A there is no concern around Anne’s sexuality. I was responding to the ignorant poster who “thought” Anne was gay. It is the poster who is homophobic, hoplophobic, and xenophobic.

B. I agree with your comments about Anne and the Navy

I will end by saying as someone who was involved with a Princess Royal patronage, I will say you will never find a smarter, gracious, and kinder person than Anne.

Well, that's nice to know and I mean that sincerely.

Why does everyone scream racism when they even remotely critique mm? Here’s a thought for you- Michelle Obama, an Ivy League educated attorney is classy. I didn't scream racism when someone remotely critiques MM. I responded to the OP which is asking why the treatment of the two women has been so egregiously different. I think specifically in the context of the treatment by the British media.

I would say to you that gossiping about people and their lives when you know really nothing about them other than what the racist british tabloids tell you isn't exactly classy either.

They are still harping on Megan when Prince Andrew is in the worldwide news (outside of England at least!) for being associated with a child pedophile. The double standard in treatment of Megan vs all the other royals who have all done equally messy and gross things like you describe, some even worse, can only be explained by racism.

I'd like to add that I just looked up the banana thing because I had never heard of it and I cannot believe you think trying to send a nice message to a sex worker in their lunch is something to criticize. It's a little ivory tower to me, like an affirmation can pull them out of such a life. But honestly that was a heart in the right place and I haven't even found a negative news source about it.

It is not about race but because she does not behave properly. If your spouse is 27th in line, you can behave like Meghan. With her spouse 6th in line, she needs behave with decorum.

So why are they covering MM more than they have covered Prince William sleeping around with the Turnip Toff woman and KM exiling her from polite society? They're SECOND in line.

You don’t think it’s a little tone deaf or, I don’t know, straight up stupid to write a note on a banana for a sex worker? She could have written a note on a piece of paper or basically anything else.
