Silly me, I opened this thread expecting to find information about the new uniforms for FCVSTJ.
Amazing how you can't post a topic on this forum without the anti-US soccer crazy coming out. |
McDonalds stuff their pockets selling Happy Meals. Staples stuffs their pockets selling back to school kits that the schools push on parents to buy. Why should youth sports be free? Because they are kids? Fight for things that make sense and would have a real impact like Universal Healthcare, but complaining about the cost of youth sports is a little bit first world problems. You also don't come off as a freedom fighter as you do sour grapes. It isn't that DA is cheap but neither is ECNL so why is DA the lone target of your attacks. ECNL raised the bar and the prices over a decade ago, everyone swallowed it and now there is no going back. This is hardly a problem US Soccer created. |
STJFCV kits are out. You can see the new logo and uniforms at soccer.com. Lots of pages of opinions. Like them/don't like them, cost, need to purchase due to sale, etc. All rabbit holes that people discuss. |
My spidey senses are telling me that it's a waste of time to debate with someone who cant differentiate between a private commercial business designed to make profit and a governing national body. A governing body becomes corrupt when it engages in profiteering. You seem to use the term "Sour grapes" a lot in this thread. Let's look at the definition. Sour grapes: Used to refer to an attitude in which someone adopts a negative attitude to something because they cannot have it themselves. I have a term; Narcasstic. Narcasstic: Narcissistic personality disorder — one of several types of personality disorders — is a mental condition in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for excessive attention and admiration, troubled relationships, and a lack of empathy for others. But behind this mask of extreme confidence lies a fragile self-esteem that's vulnerable to the slightest criticism. |
Is ECNL a corrupt governing body? |
No. The ECNL is not the governing body for US Soccer. Stop digging hole for yourself |
Talk about rabbit holes. Maybe you best stick to discussing the STJ kits. Good lord. |
ECNL is a youth soccer league. USSF’s is a governing body. |
It is a governing body. Is it corrupt? |
You tell me. Is it? |
How is it a governing body? It impacts one league. |
Because you are discussing the revenue generated by one league, DA, for US Soccer. US Club soccer overseas two leagues, NPL and ECNL. USYS overseas leagues like EDP, CCL as well as State governing bodies as well as ODP. If you want to pick on big soccer ruining youth soccer for being giant money grabs, fine, but you can’t just cherry pick US DA as the lone target. I’m comparing the other organizations to try and understand your distinction and differentiation of DA. They are all money grabs so why is DA worse? |
|
DA isn't worse. USYS, US Soccer & US Club all just want a piece of the pie. Each has their own marketing strategy, front offices, etc, etc.
All three are ruining soccer as they don't care a bit about developing the best players in the US. They care about the bottom line. Fortunately, for girls, US Soccer and US Club offer a good path to recoup some of that money for a family via a scholarship |

Actually the DA operates at a loss (for the USSF). You can check the US Soccer book of records and financial statements. I am sure it does ok for the DA clubs, but for USSF it is a loss leader aimed at building better NTs. Not sure it is working / will work, but it is their attempt none the less. Also- if you do the math not many clubs nor coaches are making much money off of youth soccer. They are at least making a living and not having to work a 9-5 desk job, but that's about it. The real motivation behind the leagues and clubs is ego and pride (along with love of soccer). They want to win and puff their chests. They want to put more kids into college programs and puff their chests. Nothing wrong with that really.
Now, the ancillary sports apparel / equipment and sports entertainment industry LOVES youth sports, including soccer. Travel firms, sports complex venues, hotels, restaurants, Nike, Puma, Adidas … they all LOVE youth sports. That's where the real money is. Coaching and running a club or league … not so much. |
Thank you. Seriously. Good post. |
