Do you actively or unintentionally discourage your daughters ....

You ignore how much children were responsible for themselves. If you wanted to play a sport, you schlepped yourself to practice, got a job to offset costs, etc. In many ways, parents have added to their home/family responsibilities. And work for the sake of appearances, work for the sake of work, is becoming normalized.

What do you mean "work for the sake of appearances"? How do you tell why a woman works and if it's "authentic"?

Thats not a ma?e/female thing. People make up more work ... beyond requirements all the time around here. It never freakin' ends. I know at least IT managers who believe they get the best out of people by slapping more on people's plates. Ive seen their team members burn out quickly, and the work products suffer under these managers.
