Beruit - Postcards From Italy

A few I haven’t seen mentioned:

Casmir Pulaski day, Sufjan Stevens: https://youtu.be/TfEkDqP34xo

Elephant, Jason Isbell:

Don’t come easy, Patty Griffin
https://youtu.be/ODG2dCwnr00

My ex-DH is in treatment for stage IIIB cancer and it doesn’t look good. We have young kids. Sad songs help me breakdown so I can buck up and keep on going for everyone.

I’m so sorry you are going through this. I think ‘melancholy’ songs as one poster put it, have healing properties like chicken noodle soup. ((hugs))

Sufjan Stevens also wrote Fourth of July. The song is about his mother, who left the family when Sufjan was young, and later passed from cancer. This song is a poetic ‘conversation’ between Sufjan and her. It is his mother comforting him.

Angels by Robbie Williams

Two of Us by Louis Tomlinson
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jukhJtIhsik

Both have some poignant lyrics about death, grief and loss. Tomlinson's are particularly raw (death of this mother). I don't particularly like Tomlinson's voice and there are already a couple covers I prefer.

Dolores O’ Riordan from the cranberries “When you’re Gone”

https://youtu.be/QJ7vgnWARNA

And I miss you, when you're gone
That is what I do, bay-, bay-, babe
And it's going to carry on
That is what I knew, bay-, bay-, baby
Hold on to my hands
I feel I'm sinking, sinking without you
And to my mind, everything's stinking
Stinking without you
