A few I haven’t seen mentioned: Casmir Pulaski day, Sufjan Stevens: https://youtu.be/TfEkDqP34xo Elephant, Jason Isbell: https://youtu.be/LHJhyrrUTgc Don’t come easy, Patty Griffin https://youtu.be/ODG2dCwnr00 My ex-DH is in treatment for stage IIIB cancer and it doesn’t look good. We have young kids. Sad songs help me breakdown so I can buck up and keep on going for everyone.
I’m so sorry you are going through this. I think ‘melancholy’ songs as one poster put it, have healing properties like chicken noodle soup. ((hugs)) Sufjan Stevens also wrote Fourth of July. The song is about his mother, who left the family when Sufjan was young, and later passed from cancer. This song is a poetic ‘conversation’ between Sufjan and her. It is his mother comforting him.
