There may very well be poor black and Latino kids from Germantown just as there are other ethnic groups from various SES there. It's not like Germantown is all poor. Note Clarksburg is already pretty diverse. It really doesn't need Germantown to up it's diversity so I don't buy it. BOttom line, Clarksburg HS was meant to serve the Clarksburg community. Seneca Valley was meant to serve the Germantown community. Let's focus on making Seneca Valley a great school, so that people in Germantown would WANT to go to Seneca Valley.

Well, yeah. But at least 2 ESs, Gibbs and Clarksburg, currently serve both Germantown and Clarksburg addresses, and no one's ES is changing....

Note Clarksburg is already pretty diverse. It really doesn't need Germantown to up it's diversity so I don't buy it. BOttom line, Clarksburg HS was meant to serve the Clarksburg community. Seneca Valley was meant to serve the Germantown community. Let's focus on making Seneca Valley a great school, so that people in Germantown would WANT to go to Seneca Valley.

The schools aren't meant to serve anyone in any particular location. They are all MCPS schools. They are meant to serve MCPS students.

Clarksburg ES doesn't serve anyone with a Germantown address.

I kind of agree. We live in Clarksburg Village and are zoned for Damascus so we’re not part of the study. When everything is rezoned I think it would make more sense for our part of the neighborhood to attend CHS instead of Damascus, but I guess that won’t happen. Just weird that the kids who live a few houses back will go to CHS and our kids will go to DHS.

Fine, then elementary schools that have a Germantown address should go to a MS, and a HS that are in Germantown. Elementary schools with a Clarksburg address should go to Middle Schools and the high school that have a Clarksburg address.

Surprise surprise.. looks like majority of the people who took the survey think geography is the most important factor and demographics the least. Let me guess what MCPS will prioritize despite that.
