If he was expelled from one pubic high school, then why was he at another public high school? What was the offense he was expelled for at Clarksburg?

MCPS is required to educate all kids. This has come up in other cases. They probably had to put him somewhere.

They have the Blair Ewing Center for kids like this.

They trade them off. If a perf director wants a kid placed in another school, the request is granted.

They were probably raped in a similar manner and they did not think that what they were doing was bad. To tape and put it online means that they will also be caught for child pornography. I am quite sure that some kids were fearful that they would be killed if they refused to participate.

This is sickening on so many levels. Feel very sad for DHS also. No one wants this kind of shame.

I hate to disagree with anyone who seems as kind hearted as you, but no, just no. I don’t buy that these guys, who violated a fellow teammate with a broom and posted it online, did not have understanding of how horrible their actions were. To suggest that, suggests that they lack humanity and common sense.

It seems like the perpetrators were also under 16 from the reporting. So we are talking about young teens. I don’t think there’s any reason to think they were abused or raped themselves, but in terms of what’s “that bad” - teens really don’t have the same brains as adults. Lots of traits that are sociopathic in adults are actually pretty normal in adolescents. Which is why they need supervision and are so vulnerable to toxic cultures. They need to be held accountable for their actions, but they also need adults and older peers to set an example of positive ways to be in the world. I am interested to see what the investigation can reveal about the coaching staff and the varsity team as well. I’m somewhat disappointed the varsity team didn’t also forfeit their last game because when push comes to shove it is one team and they should be responsible for setting the example of how the JV boys see the team and team culture.

Wait a minute, are you saying that stuffing a broom up your teammate's ass is 'pretty normal in adolescents'?

I didn't grow up in this country, thank God, but I have two brothers who played team sports, and I assure you, none of them could have imagined this scenario in their worst nightmare, not to mention, carried it out in real life. Something is deeply wrong here when, in this time and day, kids do this stuff and brag about it.
And sickening adults, like you, are trying to normalize it. What if that was your child who was anally raped in a locker room?

agree 100%!

. . . until it's your child, right?

So, what can parents with kids in MCPS do to make our voices heard? Do we need to protest in front of Damascus HS to demonstrate that parents stand firm with these brave RAPE victims? Do we need to demand resignations of ANY staff member who should have been paying attention and wasn't? Do we need to have a march? A sit-in?

What do we do to say that THIS IS TOO MUCH AND WE'RE NOT GOING TO STAND FOR IT???????

Signed,
MCPS Parent

We have an election coming up this week. Vote out all the incumbents on the school board as a good first start:
Judy Docca, Patricia O'Neill (the others on the current board either aren't running for re-election or aren't up for re-election).

I already planned to do so after the Rockville alleged gang rape case. You know how we heard about it first? From a press release by MoCo Police, which came out on Thursday, and the Board was silent until the following week even as the story blew up in national news. Utter incompetence.

Another good step, though not as closely tied to the MCPS outcome, is to not vote for anyone supported by the teacher's union (MCEA). You can guess who MCEA is going to protect when it comes to teacher vs student, and it's not the children:

In particular, be wary of voting for Elrich for County Exec. His super PAC is almost 100% funded by unions. The other two choices aren't amazing either, but at least they're not in bed with the unions.

I also did not vote for Karla Silvestri (sp?). She likes everything the current board has done. She is basically a puppet.

Pat O'Neil has to go. She is the most inapt, inefficient and complacent person on the board and she is a bully.

Pat O'Neill has done more for kids in this county than you ever will, and in a good way. As for being a bully, your imagination is running away from reality.

This was a heinous act. And, they are kids. It is not up to MCPS what happens to these kids, it is up to the MoCo police and justice system. It is not up to anyone here to be judge and jury. Recall the Rockville HS case, which when the FACTS came out, it turned out NOT to be rape (not saying this is the case here, just that we do not know all the facts)

Unless you were there, you do not know what happened, only what has been reported. MCPS is not sweeping this under the rug, they are up front. Let the police do their job, let the justice system handle it, and stop wagging your tongues.

These offenders will most likely be joining other high schools in the area after being expelled from Damascus

There was no rape at Rockville
There was a rape at RM and the rapist did not go to jail.

Vote out all judges and and the states attorney needs to go.

The ENTIRE community of MCPS parents needs to insist and ensure that these offenders are NOT put in any other school. They belong in jail or juvenile hall - not anywhere near another high school.

Time for MCPS to protect the students. Long overdue.

Not that poster. But I do know of one situation where a Wootton student was expelled for drugs and he transferred to Clarksburg. So they are school hopping for some reason.

That is not true. Are you a Kavanaugh supporter, with some vague ideas about consent.

And either way, something happened at the school that should not have happened. And, parents found out about it on the news and through social media. Instead of through MCPS.

+1000
MCPS and MCPD have very close arrangements on how cases are referred and handled. Once MCPD is working on a case, MCPS is not supposed to put out information not approved by MCPD while the investigation is ongoing. I really don't understand why some people think that their right to have early gossip out-weighs the community's right to have a case properly investigated by the police.

I think easy access and exposure to so much devious crap online and fringe elements somewhat successful attempts to normalize deviant behavior as mainstream has really tainted many people's view on what is normal.
