I stand by the statement that lots of talent is long gone by the time ecnl/da ages roll around. These leagues are fine but they are country clubs. That is just the way it is |
A long time ago being a "travel" or "select" player meant something. Now it doesn't. Rec has become travel. And, anyone with a modicum of talent can now make an ECNL/DA team, whereas the true old fashioned rec player is limited to just being on a standard travel team. I know. I see the quality of these players that the clubs take. I have several kids who play travel soccer at all different levels. I have watched them play their DA or ECNL. A token few on each team are Elite, but ALL the parents love to go around talking about how their daughter is on this Elite ecnl or DA team. Truth is, ECNL/DA is not hard to make and no.longer elite back when there were too options. Look at the players taken at these clubs last year. Be honest. Only a few are elite. Imagine if they were put together on one Northern Virginia team. Those parents could be very proud. For everyone else, i guess just be proud that you have enough money to pay for your kid to be able to go around with that patch on their uniform. Half of the PPs get it, the other half are on the Kool-Aid |
|
LOL--ok, whatever you say bud. The "other half" on this foirum could be one sock puppet for all anyone knows.
Pray tell where are all these elite girls who are not in ECNL/DA? We're having trouble finding them. There were people who believed the Earth was flat once, in fact it was the majority. Sounds a lot like you and your faith in your viewpoint/agenda. |
| Correction, I meant the "half of the PP" flat-Earther, anti-DA/ECNL'ers. |
I think with your statement and $1and change for tax, you can go to McDonalds and buy a coffee, any size. Really! |
|
Drink it up. You don't have a kid in DA then. HALF of these players work hard, but would never have made ecnl a few year ago. But keep drinking and thinking your kid is elite and hanging with an elite crew.
(I wish the club had $$ to go to some neighborhoods and recruit talent but they don't. Get rid of the bottom half of these teams.... |
| My kid is in the league and is a strong player. Who else would be wasting time on an anonymous soccer chat forum. Open you eyes. The world is a sphere and it will continue to spin even if high level girls soccer is watered down. It is whether you want to accept it or not |
Now, that's funny . . . coach doesn't see it that way. |
| I think you are arguing over each others' heads. One poster says that ECNL/DA teams generally have higher level of talent than teams in standard leagues. It is difficult to disagree with this point. The other poster argues that local ECNL/DA teams do not have many truly outstanding players, but rather many players are good, but not exceptional players, that would not really stand out if they played in a standard league. This point is also hard to dispute. Yes, there is a handful of youth national teams call ups in this area and probably a handful of players of similar caliber who did not receive a call up, but the overall quality of the local ECNL/DA player pool is not amazing. If you watch the games carefully, there are very few players that do something that makes you say "wow!" |
Yes. It is disappointing to see. |
This is a little unfair considering that there are many 50 or so kids at each age group nation wide who would even fit that description. |
|
It’s not unfair. It’s relative to what we are watching locally.
Some teams do well because they play well as a team and are marginally better across the average player on the pitch. It’s uninspired creatively. |
LMAO please do it and report back. There’s no untapped wealth of elite girls players in those neighborhoods. You’re thinking of the boys side, nice try but no dice. You clearly have no understanding of the cultural forces at play. Here’s a hint: the same culture that promotes those boys to play soccer encourages girls to leave sports to the boys. |
BS. If they ran a fully funded GDA for girls, I guarantee that many of the a decent percentage of the current players would be displaced. |
Another opinion that will get you your choice of S, M, or L coffee at McDonalds with a buck and change. And still no understanding of the cultural differences. |
