Solidcore pricing

Late cancel or no shows, I should say. Now that’s expensive!

Do they cancel classes based on low signups? I thought I read that on this thread earlier, but don't see it now. Today, I was planning to take a 2:30pm class at Cathedral Commons. I checked it last night and it had four signups, but I didn't sign up then because there was a slight chance my plans might get disrupted and I wouldn't know until 10am, which was outside the cancellation window. When I went into the app to sign up around 1pm, the class was gone, with the last class of the day showing as 1:30pm and I didn't have enough time to get there. I often sign up within an hour or two of class because the cancellation policy is so strict and I don't want to lose a class if I can't leave work when I thought I could. How many hours ahead of a scheduled class do they pull it off the schedule if there aren't enough signups? What's the magic number of signups that are needed to hold a class?

Yes, they do cancel when there aren’t enough people signed up, which means less than 5-6. Not sure what the window is but you should receive an email notice when it happens. They didn’t used to do this or at least not as often. They are offering a lot of off-peak classes (at least at my regular studios) but cancel not infrequently.

That's really annoying for those of us who book childcare specifically to make it to a given (off-peak) class.

+100. One of the reasons I started with SolidCore was because they offered a lot of afternoon/evening classes at times that were outside the dinner hour. My schedule is tight with a lot of moving parts so having a class get cancelled really screws things up. At the same time, the 10 hour cancellation policy means they're missing out on people like me who are planning to attend, but waiting to sign up because we can't afford to waste a class if something changes. Barre3 has a one-hour cancellation window, which makes it much more flexible (no pun intended).

I hate paying for childcare only to have the class cancelled. Surely they can recognize that if they committed to offering class at a certain time, they should uphold their end of the bargain--their clients jump through all kinds of hoops to make it there, and also have costs associated with canceling. In general, it costs me $57 to go to an off peak class ($27 class fee, plus $30 for two hours of childcare). I still have a class pack, but especially with the pricing change, I am getting to the point that it's just not worth it, even at once/week.

The 10hr cancellation window also means you get sick people coming to class, as I recently experienced.

Barre3 has childcare onsite, which is SO nice!

They will either go out of business or lower their rates. Chances are their offerings will just go down hill without a significant or timely correction.

They announced a new investment in the fall by a private equity group that specializes in "consumer brands." This has the feel of "experts" messing with the business model to maximize profit without regard to any of the other factors that make it a place where people want to put their fitness dollars. I love Solid Core and will be really sad if it loses its way in pursuit of investment dollars and expansion.

I run out of prepurchasd classes this week and have to make a decision. A first world problem for sure, but I feel genuinely unsure.

I ran out too. I’m testing a few other studios before locking myself in with [solidcore].

A major issue for me is that it punishes the most loyal customers. Terrible business model.

Has anyone tried to mix and match packs? Like, you buy off-peak individual classes and a 10 pack for $330 and then use the 10 pack only for peak classes? How does it work logistically?

Recent PPs, please let them know your thoughts, if you haven't already. I feel so torn about whether and how much to continue, and thankfully don't have to decide for another month. I would be heartbroken not to go anymore, and probably won't drop it in entirely, but they are not making the decision easy. Ugh.

Not sure. If you buy a 10-pack, it can be used for anything, right? So an off-peak one-off class is $27, but when you take one as part of your 10-pack, you're paying $33?

That's what I am trying to figure out. Say I buy three $27 off peak passes and the 10-pack. If I start the 10-pack, when I sign up for an off-peak class, can I make sure that the off-peak pass (and not the $33 pass) is used?
