Why don’t people in “flyover country” just move?

Some people move AWAY from the coasts exactly for these reasons.

There are professional jobs in flyover country, of course, but not much depth in their economies, so job hopping is nearly impossible, wage growth is terrible. Locals are so provincial. Sure there are some sophisticated doctors, lawyers and execs ... but again, not much depth. Most folks are dull and slow and myopic.

And yet their candidate won. Perhaps denigrating them less and trying to speak to the issues that concern them might be a better approach.

here we go again , sooner or later the khaki pants and meatloaf for dinner crowd will learn ( most likely the hard way ) that we won't all suffer equally from their decision to hitch their wagon to their orange reality tv star . So if 'yet their candidate won' is all they have to show after a year some of us can't help it but mock them for the uncouth and uncivilized fools they've always been .

Maybe the Lululemon and kale salad crowd will learn that most people don’t give a fu@k what they think, and that some of us can’t help but mock them for being the elitist, pompous, know-nothing a$$holes they’ve always been.

Yet some parts of these states, and every state, have the types of “backward” people that DCUMers hate so much. Not everyone lives in NYC, LA, or San Francisco.

Yup. And the disdain is woven into every post. Even comments like "the meatloaf for dinner crowd" upthread wouldn't be tolerated if something along those lines were made about POC.
