My friend did not include our 2 summers working at Baskin Robbins during HS on her LinkedIn profile

OP, my name is Heather and I work in HR at [name redacted's] company. Based on the information you provided, I know exactly the employee you're referring to, because she NEVER shuts up about the mythical summer she worked at BR in her late teens, waking up early and breaking a sweat, and seeing the love of her life, one of those sportsmen, pass by without so much as a second glance at her. Yes, I know the one.

Here's what I need you to do: you need to call me immediately; tell [name redacted] that our kids are in the same playgroup to get my number but that I'm a new mom and haven't been added to the FB group yet. I will confirm with the background check company to verify all of the pertinent information (how many scoops of mint chocolate chip did she scoop per hour? how many did she SAY she can scoop per hour? What was her pay, adjusted for inflation and unadjusted?). From there, I'll assess the information properly and will decide whether or not [name redacted] is TRULY fit for the promotion we're going to give her next month. If the stats from that BR gig come back and aren't up to par, she can kiss her career goodbye.

Let me know, OP. Justice, and truth, will prevail.

Thanks,
Heather

You do realize BR employees do more than just scoop the ice cream right?

This upsets me so much. Because I happen to know at least 3 or 4 middle aged women who are basically leading double lives. Pretending they never worked at Bruce Variety at all in their teens. I don't know how they live with themselves.

It was in 1979 and 1980. But many of the skills acquired are still very useful in the broader service sector.

So I graduated in '84. We're around the same age.

I would NEVER put BR on my Linked In.

Most of you would not last 1 day in high volume fast food or retail.

Yes, but that's because you didn't work there...

You should add:

- the knack for letting random shit fly over my head.

You have that skill DOWN.

I'm just here trying to figure out how this thread got to 8 pages and if any of this is serious?

We were very busy all summer long and served everyone from tourists staying at nearby hotels, to baseball teams, swim teams, soccer teams, birthday parties.
It was a very demanding job.
To now act as if none of that ever happened is very pretentious of her.
All she does now at work is sit in front of a computer all day.
We were both at the bottom of the barrel once.
Our boss (the owner) was a major asshole at times.

And I was a track star at high school. Unfortunately it was a small town.

Hilarious thread, OP.

But I don't know if I should laugh or cry at the large number of posters who don't get the joke

This serious matter really should be in the jobs/career forum.

So painful trying to be witty on DCUM!

Many of the posters on here are bitter because they realize they are no longer as attractive as they were back in their menial job days.

I hate you OP. You forced me into BR tonight where I bought a double scoop World Class Chocolate cone. Please stop this evil thread about BR or I will get fat.
