I also thought it was a decent speech. I assume the dad part was to say he worked hard as a bus driver and doesn't understand all this drama when you make big bucks? Or was it to say he thinks it's crazy she makes money chatting?
I believe in building family at work to some degree and looking out for eachother, but I am part of small business and I don't make big bucks. It's much tougher in the big league and you have to suck it up. I learned early that I prefer to make less and feel warm and fuzzy. |

Gone in two weeks:

Welp, this would be more standard anywhere else. I don't know why Kelly was upset at getting 4 months notice. |
I don't think she was upset at the 4 months, I think she was upset that she wasn't told prior to the general public finding out. |
| What an annoying little diva. Taking bets on when her show will tank. |
| She is biting the hand that feeds her. She should have shown some class and gone to work. Kathy Lee's husband was cheating on her and she showed up and joked about it with Regis. Kelly needs to grow up. |
|
Wow, she was pissed.
She opened by saying she was confident there were snipers with tranquilizer darts if she went off message. She said she was "proud" of Michael for his new gig...not happy for him...proud. That's a paternalistic dig. And she's a decent actress, but she couldn't mask her anger. She's mad. |
| I think she was being a diva but thought the part where she said half of audience called in sick to be there was hillarious! She was fighting tears in beginning. Good job overall. |
Where has it been stated that she wasn't told before the press release? Everything I've read has said she was told after the show ended and 30 minutes before the release. |
I had the same reaction. She came off a little freaky to me in that speech. I just think shit like that should have remained behind the scenes. Classier route is to deal with it behind the scenes. |
In the interview I saw with a People blogger, that I highlighted on the previous page (or 2). The blogger said she was told as the press release was going public. So yeah, I'd be pissed if my employer of 25+ years did that. |
Agree. While I could see making a joke or saying something super brief to address elephant in the room, that monologue was just too much. It seemed like she was trying to milk the applause and cheers far longer than was genuinely happening in the studio. The whole thing was very awkward and I don't think it made the situation, or her handling of the situation, any better. |
Agreed. She continued to come across as very bratty. |
She was told briefly before the public found it. It was rude and disrespectful. What was the reason for that? Why not give her a little more time to process the information before potentially having to field questions publicly on the situation? I don't watch the show often, but I watched what she said today. It was awkward (the bit about snipers being ready to shoot darts for not staying on message) + a bit forced and trying too hard to be funny (Christmas bonuses?) + a heavy handed -- it's all about you, the viewer -- when it's not at least not with regard to this situation but I'd be upset too if I was blindsided with an internal move like this by my employer after 26 years. |
First world promlems. Not too sad, imo!! |
