North Carolina and Transgender Bathrooms

Anonymous wrote:LOL that women think of public bathrooms as "safe spaces." I don't care what you are wearing, you are not pushing your way into the ladies room on the NJ turnpike. We will cut you if you don't stand in line like everyone else. And a woman in an isolated public restroom is vulnerable, no matter what the rules are. You are pretending that this is an issue of women's safety, when it's really just that you think transgender people are weird and gross.

LOL. Yeah, it's not an issue of women's safety at all. Men having and being allowed access to women's bathrooms... nothing could go wrong with that! Nothing. Now everyone stick your head in the sand in 3, 2....

I definitely LOL'd at this.

And I'm still waiting for a serious reply.

I would still like an answer. Especially from the last few posters (maybe poster).

Actually, I am a lesbian. Many gays and lesbians are incredibly uncomfortable with transgender people. YOU are the one who is closed minded and prioritizing men over women- 1950s misogyny. No thank you.

LOL!! Some people are just so dumb, and so naive, and so stupid.

Men would love this rule.

Sorry 13 year old girl feeling insecure about your body- we wouldn't want to be "prudish"- go get naked next to your classmate!

What a wonderful, compassionate stance to take!

I addressed this a while ago. Exposing oneself for sexual gratification is illegal, regardless of gender. If someone claims to be trans* and exposes himself to a woman in the bathroom, he can and should be arrested. If a trans* person is changing in the bathroom, s/he is most likely using a stall, for fear of harassment.

And it doesn't compute in your mind that a sexual predator, which statistically is almost guaranteed to be a man going after a woman, being allowed access to the places where his preferred victims will be in a state of undress, will increase his ability to commit a crime?

That just... doesn't occur to you?

Dcum amazes me in that it thinks it is A-okay for a grown man to use womens' bathrooms and locker rooms if they happen to "feel" like a girl, but get outraged at the idea of a mom bringing her five year old son through the women's locker room so he doesn't have to go in the men's locker room alone.

+1 sums it up right there!

Y'all lost your damn minds. Bathrooms are not a sanctuary. If the presence of someone makes you uncomfortable or feel unsafe then find another bathroom. Odds are you've used a bathroom at the same time as a transgendered person and had no idea. Don't send your children to a bathroom alone. Lock the door of your stall and mind your own damn business.

That goes both ways. Why don't the trans-gendered use their biological bathroom, close and lock the stall and mind their own damn business?

Society does NOT care about women. They love to pretend to be progressive, to be feminist.

But as soon as a man makes a demand that puts all women at risk, they are quick to side with the man. Women's preferences and feelings of safety be damned.

It's so sick.

I see reading is not your strong suit. I'm talking about LOCKER ROOMS and voyeurism by pervs.

You're just realizing this now? LOL. That poster has barely touched on any of the issues brought up.

This law would apply to a transman too.

There are more than one of us arguing this point. But since I'm the one who misread the previous post, I'll apologize. My response stands for me, however, and I'll repeat a cogent point I made before: more often than not, a trans* individual changes in a closed stall, to avoid harassment.

You do realize the communal area of a restroom doesn't involve getting naked, right? Or are you saying the 13 year old is insecure about washing their hands?

Do you not understand the concept of locker rooms? This is the second time you seem to have missed it...

The difference is, women are not sexually assaulting men, by and large. So women will be the victims, whether you want to acknowledge that or not.
